My Problem With Valentines Day

I don't usually vent on this blog but I needed to get these thoughts out and why not just share them on my blog.

I have a problem with Valentines Day. I get it's the day of love and it must be nice if you actually have a partner to share it with or even friends to share it with. What about the rest of us though? The singles, the lonely people who feel they will never find love or are too shy to even meet new people. Who've had their heartbroken and are afraid to fall in love again? What about us? Why is there not a day to celebrate being single and being alone? Where's that day?

The only reason it's annoying to me is all the advertisements and displays in the shops filled with gifts for loved ones. Don't get me wrong. I'd happily buy myself a box of chocolates and most valentines day, I just watch movies, order takeaway and eat chocolate. I just spend it as a day to love myself and do things I love. Yet there's no section in the Valentines display aisle in shops for the singles. Maybe there should be. Spending Valentines day alone, here's some options for you. Have fun and love yourself. Why isn't there? That would be great because there's like 50% of people in this world that are spending Valentines Day alone so why not give them something to enjoy that day alone. Make it special for the single and lonely too. Not just for the couples.

That's my only grudge with Valentines Day.

Anyway, sorry for that little ramble. I just had to speak my mind on the subject. However you're spending Valentines Day. I hope you have a great day.

  1. Nice post, I actually feel you. I think it's high time the society comes to terms with the fact that valentine day isn't just for those with partners it can also be spent on oneself
