New Year's Resolutions

Image
It's coming to the end of 2022 and 2023 will soon be upon us. Every year, I'm always surprised by how quickly the year goes. Like January just seems to be like the slowest month of the year then BAM! It's Christmas! Now here we are two days before the new year.  Of course every year, we all decide to make some new year resolutions because for some reason we all come to the same conclusion that with a new year comes a new me. Well, sorry to disappoint anyone but there is going to be a new me because I like the person I am. However, I'm a sucker for making these New Year's Resolutions and so here I am making some goals for 2023. Although these goals I'm going to be realistic with them and only make two resolutions. I feel like the more resolutions you make, the harder it is to achieve them whereas with two you stand more of a chance of completing them.  So here are my two New Year's Resolutions 1. Pass my driving test This is my biggest goal for 2023 as I'

Merry Christmas!

Image
Merry Christmas Everyone! Whether you celebrate it or not, I hope you have a lovely day and make the most of that lovely day off. Listen to Xmas music, eat a yummy roast dinner, and watch movies all day. However, you spend the day whether it's with family, friends or on your own. Make the most of the day.  This isn't the end of Blogmas for me as I will continue to post for the rest of December so get excited as there will be six more posts coming to this blog for you to enjoy.  Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you have a lovely day. I'll be back tomorrow with another post for you. See you then.  Megan x  *This is not a sponsored post*  For business enquiries or just a chat email: megantimeblog@gmail.com

Christmas Eve

Image
Here we are, Christmas Eve. The time where last minute preparations are going on ready for the big day. Many have a day off to enjoy but most have work to go to. Remember, if you're shopping on Christmas Eve then be nice to the retail workers. They're here to earn a living and are not able to spend time with their families. It's not their fault if something is not on stock, it's your fault for leaving it to the last minute. Next year, maybe start your Christmas shopping earlier. It will save you so much time in the long run. I'm one of those people that has to work Christmas Eve but luckily we finish earlier and have the whole evening to enjoy. Plus I have Christmas Day and Boxing Day which is really nice to have as it means I get two full days just to relax before the Boxing Day sales kick off. Honestly, I'm really excited for Christmas Day because it's just going to be me and my mum spending the day together. We got our turkey crown and puddings. We're

My Top Five Christmas Movies

Image
I feel like every year people have this debate on what is the best Christmas movie. Honestly, everyone is different and luckily for us there is a Christmas movie out there for everyone to enjoy. I thought I'd share my top five favourite Christmas movies as we're coming up to Christmas and so why not. 1. How The Grinch Stole Christmas (200) This by far has to be my favourite Christmas movie. Jim Carrey's Grinch is pure genius and as I've gotten older, related more and more to the character. The Grinch didn't hate Christmas, he just hated people which is understandable honestly. I know there is the 1966 television special and the 2018 movie of the Grinch, but for me I love this version as we had it on VHS (remember those?) When I was a child, and I loved this movie. This is definitely my favourite Christmas movie.  2. The Muppet Christmas Carol What is Christmas without watching an adaption of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Now I don't know about you, but

Things I'm Grateful For

Image
I thought I'd do a bit of reflection on this year and everything I'm grateful for because we're getting closer and closer to the end of the year so why not do a little list of all the things that I'm grateful for this year. 1. Taking more chances This year I did something a little crazy and met a guy online. I took a huge risk after speaking for a couple of weeks and Snapchatting each other, I decided to catch a train to meet up with him. I know it was a big risk, after watching a lot of true crime recently that online dating can be a major factor with crime with things like catfishing and possibly getting murdered just to name a few. However, I thought why not just go for it because you'll never really know unless you try. Anyway, I met up with him and we had a nice time together and honestly, it was the first time in a long time I felt good about someone and thought that for once things might work out in the long run. Sadly for me they didn't as after a few mo

One Week Until Christmas

Image
Can you believe Christmas is one week? Cause I can't! I have no idea where any of the time has gone. It feels like December has just flown by where I don't even know what day it is anymore and all of a sudden I realised that next Sunday, it's Christmas day. Even crazier is the following Sunday, we'll be saying hello to 2023. I feel like when you work in retail over the Christmas holidays, days just warp into one another as you tackle Christmas shoppers and long shifts. I literally feel like these past couple of days I've had no time to myself, hence why my Blogmas has been slacking as honestly I haven't been able to manage my time between work, eating and sleeping. Let alone have time to chill or write a blog post. Does anyone else, when they have an early morning shift at work, go to sleep as soon as they get home or is that just me? I feel like all I do is work, eat, sleep and repeat. Especially this time of year. It's just an endless cycle. That's why

What's In My Going Out Bag?

Image
I thought I'd do something a little different with my what's in my bag post and share it as a photo journal style. The reason I'm sharing what's in my going out bag is because it's my work's Christmas party tonight and the first time I've been on a night out in a while so I'm very excited. Anyway, here's what's in my going out bag. That's what's in my going out bag. Let me know what your going out bag essential is. I'd love to hear it.  Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with another post. See you then. Staying Productive In Winter

Image
With Xmas coming up and the year nearly over. It can be a struggle to be productive especially if all you want to do is chill and watch a Xmas movie. I think motivation can be even harder to find this season than other seasons. I'm here to help you out. If you're a student working on assignment or have a really important deadline coming up or just trying to get through the working day then this post is for you. 1. To-Do Lists I don't mean just any to-do list. Write a to do list of everything you need to get done this winter. Whether it's every shift you have to do for work, an essay you need to write or sorting out the house for Xmas. Write it down. Knowing all the important tasks you need to get done are in written form will make it easier and when you get each task done, cross it out. It will make you feel less overwhelmed and honestly each day you can pick something to that day. To-do lists don't have to be daily, they can be monthly too, so make a to-do list for

Beating Winter Blues

Image
Christmas is supposed to be the happiest time of the year as there is jolly music playing, lots of treats to eat and time to spend with loved ones. However, there are those days where you reflect on things and have days where you feel down. Perhaps you're single and surrounded by happy couples wishing just once that could be you. Maybe the family is putting a lot of pressure this Xmas whether it's to visit, make sure everything is perfect or just be a real Scrooge about everything.  If you feel like you're on your own with these winter blues. You're not. Lots of people go through these days, weeks, or even months of just feeling down during this time of year. It's okay to not feel so great. Just remember you can spend Xmas however you choose. Who cares if you're not going to have a turkey roast on Xmas day. Break tradition and have a burger or pasta. Whatever your favourite dish is, have it on Xmas day. You don't have to have it with family, ask your friends

Where Have I Been?

Image
Oops, missed a couple of days and I do apologise but I forgot to schedule some posts during the time I was away. Hence why there are a couple of days missing from Blogmas. The reason why I missed a few days is because I was on holiday from work and I spent the first half of it in Manchester. I went to the Christmas markets and toured Coronation Street. I had a really lovely time up there. Here are a few photos of it below. After Manchester I travelled down to Bristol to spend some time with my dad and family. I haven't seen most of them since April and as I work in retail, it's a struggle to get holidays off so this was my only time off where I could see my dad and family for Xmas. It was nice because I was able to meet my nephew for the first time who is the most chilled out baby I've ever met plus I got to spend time with my adorable nieces too. It was just a nice break from work and I've done way too much socialising to last me for the rest of the year. So yeah, that

Packing For The Holidays

Image
One of the most stressful things about Christmas is travelling to see friends and family to give them their gifts. If you're someone who can drive then I'm sure it's way easier for you, but if you're someone like me who can't drive yet then you have to take public transport which makes packing presents even more stressful when you have to carry them all. Here are a few of my tips to make packing just a little bit easier when doing it over the holidays. 1. Keep it light It can be ever so tempting to take your big suitcase with you and fill it with the Christmas presents you bought. However, that means your case is going to be heavier to drag around and you may end up packing more than you actually need. One big tip is taking a carry-on suitcase, therefore it means you can only pack the essentials plus you'll still be able to fit the Christmas presents in. Keeping it light means you'll have less to carry with you and you'll only pack what you need. If you&

Favourite Xmas Decorations

Image
I don't know about you but I love decorating the house for Xmas. It just makes everything so cosy and the house more exciting than usual. On top of that you have familiar decorations. I don't know about these people that go out and buy a whole load of other decorations. There is just something about the familiarity of your decorations that you've had for years. Even some from when you were a child. I thought I'd share some of my favourite decorations. Let's get started. I bought this two years ago because we had a snow globe when I was a child which had a Santa and snowman in it and honestly I loved it. I remember seeing this in the shop and knew I had to get it. This one is by the chair I sit in the living room and most evenings, I'll just shake it for fun. I don't know why they give this satisfying feeling but snow globes really give this satisfying feeling whenever you shake them. It may be a few seconds of joy but honestly I don't know anything that

Xmas Gift Ideas

Image
I don't know about you but gift giving can be a real struggle especially at Xmas time when you have lots of family, friends, and significant others to buy for. Now there are lots of gift ideas out there so I thought I'd share my insight. A lot of these gifts are affordable and easy to give to anyone. 1. Make it yourself Sometimes a simple handmade gift is even better than a shop bought one because it's one of a kind and nobody else has it. I gave my mum a gift one year that was so simple to make but she absolutely loved it. I created a word document and wrote my brother's name and his birthday then did a little heart with mum. Underneath that I put my name and my birthday. I printed it out and got a nice frame for it. You can see the finished product below. It's such a simple idea but it meant a lot to my mum as it's her two children's name and birthdays. It's personalised but also so affordable to make. Now it hangs proudly in the house because it means

Being Single At Xmas

Image
Another year and you find yourself still single at Christmas. One positive of that is one less person to buy for. Unfortunately, when you think of most Christmas movies like The Holiday and Elf it usually has a lot of romance in it and the couples get together living happily ever after in their relationships. I've come to realise there's not really a lot of Christmas movies that represent the single people who don't really have a significant other to spend Christmas with. I mean I'm someone who has yet to experience my first relationship so I know it's probably going to be a long time before I even have a significant other to spend Christmas with or if I ever will.  I don't want to bring the mood down on this post because we can all agree not being in a relationship at Christmas time is very lonely and sad. However, there is not a lot we can do about it unless you're one of those people frantically swiping right on potential partners with the hopes that one

How To Get In The Xmas Mood

Image
Christmas is in twenty days time and some of us may have been in the Christmas mood from the moment Halloween ends and some of us may be ready for Christmas in December. However, there are some of us who may not be in the Christmas mood at the moment for whatever reason. I thought I'd give you guys some inspiration on how to get in the Xmas mood and not be such a Scrooge. 1. Decorate the house I don't know about you but decorating the house for Christmas is so fun and the finished product just makes everything feel cosy as well as in the mood for Christmas. It doesn't have to be picture perfect. To me we never have a themed tree or decorations. We just go with the flow and have an assortment of decorations we put on the tree which to me looks better than a well themed tree. It gives it more personality. I hate the picture perfect decorations on the tree that are all one colour theme because I feel it loses that personality. However, everyone is free to decorate their tree h

My Winter Reading List

Image
As a lover of books, I feel like winter is the perfect time to get some reading done and even more so when the books are related to Winter in some way or another. I'm so excited as I have two books on my winter reading list which are related to Christmas and therefore will make the perfect December reads. A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Stories by Charles Dickens This is surprising as A Christmas Carol is a well known story and there have been many movie adaptations of this book yet I have never actually read the physical book. It's surprising because everyone knows the story but how many of you have actually read the book. Therefore I made it my mission to read A Christmas Carol this winter and it makes sense as this year I've been reading a lot of classic books like Peter Pan and Oliver Twist so it makes sense to add another classic to that list. Plus what is Christmas without indulging into an adaption of A Christmas Carol and this time I'm indulging into the b

Ranking Xmas Chocolates

Image
You see it every year in shops, the huge stacks of chocolate tubs which are about £4 each and the temptation is unreal. It definitely feels like Xmas as they not only make a great gift but also a nice little treat to enjoy while watching Xmas movies.
