Staying Productive In Winter

With Xmas coming up and the year nearly over. It can be a struggle to be productive especially if all you want to do is chill and watch a Xmas movie. I think motivation can be even harder to find this season than other seasons. I'm here to help you out. If you're a student working on assignment or have a really important deadline coming up or just trying to get through the working day then this post is for you.

1. To-Do Lists
I don't mean just any to-do list. Write a to do list of everything you need to get done this winter. Whether it's every shift you have to do for work, an essay you need to write or sorting out the house for Xmas. Write it down. Knowing all the important tasks you need to get done are in written form will make it easier and when you get each task done, cross it out. It will make you feel less overwhelmed and honestly each day you can pick something to that day. To-do lists don't have to be daily, they can be monthly too, so make a to-do list for the month and everything you need to do because it will make your life a little bit easier.

2. Start sooner, rather than later.
Procrastination can be your biggest challenge as it's so tempting to put things off to do at a later date but the more you do that then the less time you have to accomplish. I have this quote on my desktop wallpaper that says 'it always seems impossible until it's done. This quote got me through university because I used to dread doing my assignments as I never really knew where to begin but eventually I just thought I need to just start it because the longer I leave it the less time I have to do it. I highly recommend starting sooner later and do the hardest/worst task first so at least you can get that one other and done with. In university, you have deadlines that are due before the break and some in January. It can be a real struggle to get through them but the longer you leave it then the worse it will be. A lot of students leave things last minute which means all the books you'll need will most likely be gone. At least starting sooner means you'll have access to all the books you'll need so you'll be able to find as many references as possible because I learned a long time ago that the more references the better.

3. Tidy
I don't know about anyone else, but I can't work when I'm surrounded by clutter. One thing that helps me to be put in a productive mood is to tidy my surroundings. It allows me to be productive by getting a job done but also make sure my surroundings are clutter free. It kills two birds with one stone by motivating me to be productive while also being productive at the same time. I highly recommend you start tidying your surroundings of clutter if you're unmotivated, it will help you out in the long run.

4. Take breaks
Honestly, people see breaks as unproductive but they can really boost your morale. Having five to ten minutes or even half an hour to step away from your work can help to clear your mind. You'll come back to your work with a fresh set of eyes and maybe even boost your productivity. Make yourself a cup of tea or a snack during this break so you can feel energised to keep going. If you've done several hours of work, don't forget to take a break for a bit because it will make you less stressed and take a bit of the edge off your work.

5. Reward Yourself
My biggest and final tip is after a day of being productive, make sure you reward yourself. Whether it's going to hang out with your friends or play your favourite video game or even just chill out for a few hours. You deserve it and that will help to motivate you to be productive. If you make a to-do list of everything you want to do that day then once you've crossed everything off then you can finally treat yourself to something you love.

There we have it. Those are my tips on how to stay productive during the winter. I hope it helps you out whether it's for school, university or work. You can do it and the holidays are coming up so it will really be worth it to finish all your work ready for the holidays. That way you can have more time to relax and just have fun.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with another post.

See you then.
