My Top Five Christmas Movies

I feel like every year people have this debate on what is the best Christmas movie. Honestly, everyone is different and luckily for us there is a Christmas movie out there for everyone to enjoy. I thought I'd share my top five favourite Christmas movies as we're coming up to Christmas and so why not.

1. How The Grinch Stole Christmas (200)
This by far has to be my favourite Christmas movie. Jim Carrey's Grinch is pure genius and as I've gotten older, related more and more to the character. The Grinch didn't hate Christmas, he just hated people which is understandable honestly. I know there is the 1966 television special and the 2018 movie of the Grinch, but for me I love this version as we had it on VHS (remember those?) When I was a child, and I loved this movie. This is definitely my favourite Christmas movie.

2. The Muppet Christmas Carol
What is Christmas without watching an adaption of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Now I don't know about you, but for me the Muppet Christmas Carol is he best adaption. It's something that shouldn't work but it does. You have Michael Caine as Scrooge himself and you can tell he put everything into this role. He really embodies the character of Scrooge. You think The Muppets involved wouldn't make it work but it does. Gonzo and Rizzo as the narrators adds a level of depth to it especially as Gonzo is supposed to be Charles Dickens too. I don't know why but it just works. Honestly, this is one of the best adaptations of A Christmas Carol in my opinion and I absolutely love it.

3. Home Alone 2: Lost In New York
Of course, I had to mention Home Alone but in my opinion I prefer the sequel to the first movie. While I love the first movie and would happily watch it, I don't know why but I prefer the second movie. It's interesting to be set in a different location but also the original cast return which is honestly the best decision the movie could have made. I think the traps with the burglars are so much funnier than in the first movie and I just like the fact it's set in New York. As much as I love the first Home Alone, I'd choose this one as my top pick. I haven't seen any of the other sequels of Home Alone so I can't really comment on them but I really do enjoy this movie.

4. The Holiday
Honestly, who doesn't love The Holiday. It used to be my absolute favourite but as a single female, it makes me depressed that I don't have a Jack Black or Jude Law in my life. I feel that way about a lot of romance films these days. However, I still love this movie because it's a really nice Christmas movie to watch every year and sometimes you don't even need to watch it at Christmas time. It's just a fun movie to watch all year round and gives you all the feels. I think the casting is just perfect and I know there's rumours going around about a sequel which I hope it's true. Whether it lives up to the original is another thing entirely. Either way I love this movie and it's definitely one of my favourites.

5. Elf
I struggled with this one because I wasn't sure what to choose as there are so many good movies to watch at Christmas. Then I remembered Elf is one of those movies that just gets you in the Christmas mood. Will Ferrell is just fun to watch as Buddy the Elf and honestly this is just a great movie to watch at Christmas time.

There's my top five Christmas movies. Let me know what your favourite is. I'd love to hear it.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back soon with another post.

See you then.
