How To Get In The Xmas Mood

Christmas is in twenty days time and some of us may have been in the Christmas mood from the moment Halloween ends and some of us may be ready for Christmas in December. However, there are some of us who may not be in the Christmas mood at the moment for whatever reason. I thought I'd give you guys some inspiration on how to get in the Xmas mood and not be such a Scrooge.

1. Decorate the house
I don't know about you but decorating the house for Christmas is so fun and the finished product just makes everything feel cosy as well as in the mood for Christmas. It doesn't have to be picture perfect. To me we never have a themed tree or decorations. We just go with the flow and have an assortment of decorations we put on the tree which to me looks better than a well themed tree. It gives it more personality. I hate the picture perfect decorations on the tree that are all one colour theme because I feel it loses that personality. However, everyone is free to decorate their tree however they want and heck sometimes you don't even need a Christmas tree. You can decorate your home how you want to. Make it cosy with little decorations and lots of fairy lights. Heck you don't even need to waste money on electricity. Get lots of battery powered lights. That will save you money on electricity this winter and it looks so cosy. Decorating the house with Christmas decorations will definitely put you in the mood for Christmas.

2. Make a Christmas playlist
I don't know about you but there is something about Christmas music that just makes me happy. It's playing every time you go into a shop but also having a playlist to play around the house just puts you in the mood for Christmas. For one you can choose all the songs you love and not have to listen to the ones you don't love. Don't tell me when you hear that first jingle of All I Want For Christmas that you can't help but be in the mood for Christmas. I think it's physically impossible.

3. Realise that Christmas makes people happy
Even if you're being a scrooge, understand that some people may have had a rubbish year whether it's with heartbreak, mental health struggles or things haven't gone to plan. Christmas is a time for a lot of people that brings them a little joy in their lives so don't rain on anyone's parade by bringing their Christmas joy down. Just embrace it because if you take away their Christmas joy then it may just be the cherry on top of a rubbish year and you don't want to be the reason for that. If anything you can learn something from them and understand why Christmas brings them joy. When you realise that then if anything that should put you in the Christmas mood because it's all about giving rather than receiving so give people joy because some people need it. Even the happiest people are struggling mentally so be there for people and don't rain on their Christmas parade.

4. Christmas movie marathon
I don't know about you but I love watching Christmas movies and Christmas time is the perfect excuse for it. If you're struggling to get in the Christmas mood then on your next day off, get in your pyjamas and spend the day watching all the best Christmas movies out there. I can guarantee that by the end of that movie marathon, you'll be in the Christmas mood.

5. Go Christmas shopping
Start preparing for the big day now. Go out Christmas shopping and buy your Christmas dinner whatever you choose to have whether it's Turkey or a Vegan option. Get organised. Another thing is to buy Christmas presents. For me I get all my present buying done in November because then I don't have to stress over it in December and just embrace all the Christmas feels. Buying Christmas presents for family and friends just puts you in the mood and makes you excited to give them your present. Yes we're all secretly excited to open our presents but at the same time there is something magical about giving a present to someone and hoping they will like it. Especially if you put a lot of thought into the gift. I definitely thought about my presents this year and thought my family will like each one so I'm excited for them to open them because after all it is the thought that counts. Also don't feel the need to buy lots of presents for people. There is a cost of living crisis happening at the moment and some people can barely afford essentials. One gift is enough and if you can't afford to buy a gift then send a card because after all sometimes just wishing someone a lovely Christmas is honestly better than nothing. Be grateful that you're surrounded by people that love you whether it's family and friends. You never know what the future holds and it could literally be anyone's last Christmas so make the most of it and remember to be grateful for everything.

There we have it. That is how you get in the Xmas mood. Let me know what gets you into the Xmas mood. I'd love to hear it.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back again tomorrow with another post.

See you then.
