I Got No Sleep!

I had one of those weird nights last night where I would fall asleep then wake up an hour later. On and off this kept happening then all of a sudden at 4am I was wide awake.

It kind of sucks because I'm actually working this afternoon at 5pm so I'm not sure how I'm going to function today to be honest.

I then thought why not create a list of tips which I've found on what to do when you've had a bad night's sleep.

Let's get started.

1. Coffee

Seeing as I got no sleep, I may as well start my morning how I usually start my morning. With coffee. I feel like a caffeinated boost will help me to stay awake just a little bit.

2. Shower

Okay, you're probably feeling a little sluggish after having no sleep so definitely take a shower. You'll feel more awake by doing so and you won't feel as gross. Instead you'll feel clean and slightly normal.

3. Keep Yourself Busy

The chances are you'll want to be lazy because you're so tired by either laying on your sofa or on your bed watching TV. My advice is don't do this because you'll probably fall asleep and end up sleeping for a few hours then you'll probably screw up your sleep pattern. Definitely keep yourself busy. Especially in the morning. Tidy your bedroom or clean the house. Go for a walk outside. Sit at your desk and do some work. Just don't lay down on your bed or the sofa because you most probably will fall asleep.

4. Take a power nap

Now it's inevitable that you'll probably feel tired around middayish so do take a power nap but make it a quick one. Keep to around half an hour to under an hour. Just so you get a little bit of sleep but it's not affecting your whole sleep pattern. It just gives you a chance to get some of your energy back and feel less tired for the rest of the day.

5. Eat

It's important to keep your energy up, especially when you're tired by eating. Now I don't mean eat anything and everything. Stick to the regular meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner. You'll feel a whole lot better once you've had your three meals a day. You may also have some snacks but try to keep them healthy in order to boost your energy.

6. Get dressed

This is probably an obvious tip but don't stay in your pyjamas all day. Instead get dressed but not in comfy clothes. Put on jeans and a top. If you wear normal clothes that you go out, you're probably going to find them uncomfortable and you'll less likely fall asleep in them. You'll also feel semi normal and instead of sluggish which is what you would feel if you stay in your pyjamas all day.

So yeah, those are my tips on what to do if you got no sleep the night before. I wish you good luck with the day if you are like me and I hope it is a good day for you. Let me know if you have any tips for surviving the day after not getting any sleep the night before in the comments below.

I'll be back again soon with another blog post.

See you then.
