Packing For One Night

As today I'm going to Cardiff for one night. I thought I'd share with you what to pack for one night away. I just thought it would be helpful as Summer is the time where many go away and due to work, it's only for one night. So I'm going to share with you my tips and what I'm packing for one night in Cardiff.

1. Make a list

I love making lists and when it comes to packing. There's no doubt about it. I'll make a list. Just think of all the things you're gonna use on a daily basis when it comes to toiletries or makeup or clothing. Just write them down. When it comes to the miscellaneous items such as a laptop or a games console. Try to think are you really going to use it. As much as I love my laptop. I'm not gonna take it because I'm only staying there one night and I'd rather do things outside of the hotel room than be on my laptop on my one night away. So yeah try to think about what you're going to be doing when you go away and pack according to that.

2. Suitcase or backpack?

Just remember it's one night only so you're not going to need a giant suitcase or loads of bags. Personally I like to take my carry on suitcase because it's small but because I'm catching the train and walking around Cardiff with it before I check in then it's going to be easy for me to pull along. Plus if I do any shopping then I know I'll have space. Of course what you use to pack is entirely up to you.

3. Clothes

It's tempting to pack spares and just in cases but the reality is you're probably not going to wear it. Just remember you're going to be wearing clothes when you travel anyway. For me I like wearing my jeggings so I'll wear those on my travels and because they're black they work for an evening outfit too. I also like to put my clothes in packing cubes because it just makes everything more organised.

Here's what I packed for clothes:

  • Travel outfit (Top, black jeggings, jacket, shoes)
  • Two tops (One for the evening and one for the day)
  • A coat (it's Britain, it rains)
  • Three pairs of underwear (Just in case, accidents happen people!)
  • Three pairs of socks (Because why not)
  • Extra bra (If you need one)
  • Pyjamas (To sleep in, duh plus perfect for lounging in the hotel room)
  • Shoes (Just one pair that I'll be wearing for travelling and for the entire trip)

I also packed a little bag for the evening and a packing pouch for dirty laundry just so I have place to put it.

2. Toiletries

This is probably the easiest to pack because literally you have to think about your daily routine for this. I use the same toiletries bag every time I travel and I keep all my travel stuff in there so every time I go somewhere I check if I've got enough of everything before I go. It helps me out so much being prepared because I like to travel to places so this really helps.

My toiletry essentials are:

  • Travel size toothbrush and toothpaste (obvious reasons)
  • Travel size shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Deodorant
  • Body spray
  • Moisturiser in a travel size pot (I put my Simple moisturiser in a Nivea travel size pot)
  • Travel size hairspray
  • Travel size heat protect spray (just in case I want to straighten or curl my hair)
  • A razor
  • A compact mirror (to do my makeup, just in case the hotel doesn't have a good mirror)

Other things I like to add to my toiletry bag are:
  • A mini hairbrush
  • Cotton buds in a little pouch
  • Face wipes
  • Hairband to put my hair back
  • Hair bobbles just in case

3. Makeup

With makeup I just like to keep it simple. Every time I pack makeup, I usually pack too many just in cases and I end up not using them so I've managed to figure out what I really need and will use. The likely thing is I'll do my makeup for the evening and in the morning on the next day so really I don't need a lot. I decided on this makeup bag because even though it's a big makeup bag it actually fits not just my makeup but my brushes too which is super handy because I know everything I need for my makeup is in here.

Here's what makeup I packed:

  • Primer
  • Foundation
  • Concealer
  • Powder
  • Contour palette
  • Cream blush stick
  • Highlighter stick
  • Small eye shadow palette
  • Two single eye shadows
  • Brow powder
  • Brow gel
  • Waterproof mascara
  • Black eyeliner pencil
  • Lip gloss
  • Lip balm

Other things I have in my makeup bag:
  • Makeup brushes
  • Eyelash curler
  • Tweezers
  • Makeup fixing spray

That's pretty much it for what's in my suitcase. Below is what it looks like once everything is in there. As you may be able to tell there's still plenty of room in here but it's enough for one night away.

4. Day bag

This is my little day bag from Amazon and it fits everything I need for the night away. I'm going to use this bag for day use around Cardiff so most of the things in here will be taking out but this is just what I need for travelling down to Cardiff.

Here's what inside:

  • A book (I love reading and going away is the perfect time to read)
  • A puzzle book (I may get bored so doing puzzles will be fun especially on the train)
  • Notebook (This notebook is actually what I'm writing my novel in so I'm hoping to do some writing while I'm away)
  • My phone (obvious reasons)
  • Headphones
  • My Camera (I'm hoping to pictures and blog about my trip)
  • My purse (Because I need money and ID for the trip)
  • My phone charger (obvious reasons)
  • Pens (For writing and doing puzzles)
  • Sunglasses (Forgot to take a picture of them but as it's summer, it might be sunny)
  • My little essential pouch (lipstick, two perfumes, hair bobble, compact hairbrush and mirror)

That's everything I'm taking for my one night away to Cardiff. I know it seems like a lot but it's everything I need. I hope this was helpful to any of you planning on going away for one night. You can even use these tips for two nights. Just add an extra top, underwear and trousers. It's up to you.

Let me know if you have any packing tips I would love to hear them in the comments below.

I'll be back again soon with another post for you guys.

See you then.
