Happy Things

I thought I'd do a fun little post where I share all the things whether big or small that make me happy.

Harry Potter
I don't know what it is about Harry Potter, but it is an incredible comfort to me. Whether it's rereading the books, listening to the audiobooks, watching the series, or even playing one of the many video games. It just makes me so happy. I am blessed to be part of the generation that grew up with Harry Potter. I didn't read the books in the beginning, but I watched the movies in the cinema when they came out with my family, and it just brings back so many happy memories for me. Particularly because the first two movies was watched with my late Granddad, so it brings back some fond memories of him too. I can't even fully explain why it makes me happy, but it just does. I know I can watch any of the Harry Potter films and enjoy it. I've been rereading or rather listening to the audiobooks every year. Sometimes twice in a year because it just makes me happy. I think Harry Potter holds a place in my heart that nothing can replace it or make me get rid of it because it will always be there through the books, audiobooks, or the movies. Harry Potter is definitely one of those things that makes me happy.

Coffee
My name is Megan, and I am a coffee addict. I know coffee is not the healthiest drink in the world, but it is the drink I have on a daily basis and more than once throughout the day. It's a drink that makes me feel like I've got my whole life together. I always want more after I've finished it which is why I have it in a huge mug. Even now as I write this post, there is a mug of coffee sitting right next to me. Coffee just makes me happy and I'm sure a lot of coffee drinkers feel the same as I do.

My Close Family
Most of us have a lot of family members but there are those family members that you are really close with that just make you happy. You know they care about you just as much as you care about them. They mean the world to you and would do anything for them. One person who I am very close with is my mum. Mainly because we live together but we've also done a lot together. We've gone away together. We go shopping together. We go out for meals together. We have this mutual understanding of one another. She is the one person that knows me better than I know myself. She still loves me despite my many flaws. It's a bond that is unbreakable and out of all my family members, she is the one I'm the closest with. So yeah, my mum and my close family make me very happy.

Makeup
I don't know what it is about makeup, but I find it so therapeutic to do. I don't put a lot of makeup on, but I have my everyday routine that I do whenever I go to work or are going out somewhere. It just makes me happy to do. One of my favourite parts of going on a night out isn't the night out itself. It's the getting ready and doing my makeup. It's just one of those things I've grown to love to do on a weekly basis. Definitely makes me happy when I do my makeup even if it's just the bare minimum. Still makes me happy.

Cinema
One of my favourite places to go to is the cinema. There's something about watching a movie in the cinema compared to watching it home. Whether it's because the surround sound or the popcorn or just the huge screen. It feels great. One of my dream dates is to go to the cinema one day.

Going Out For A Meal
It is a simple thing but there's always some excitement about going out for a meal. For starters, it means not having to do any washing up but it's also a nice chance to socialise while also enjoying a nice meal. It is something that always brings me joy and whenever anyone suggests eating out, I can never say no.

Cooking A Meal
I know this is opposite to the previous point but there's something about cooking a nice meal. The other day I made a healthy Thai green curry, and it was honestly really delicious. I made it for me, and my mum and she really enjoyed it which is honestly the best compliment from your mum. It's just satisfying especially when it tastes delicious and that is super proud feeling.

Cleaning
This is an interesting one because cleaning isn't often fun but there is something pretty satisfying when you commit to cleaning your bedroom or your house all the way through to the end result. It is something that feels productive, and it is an important weekly if not daily thing to do. Plus you can make it fun by getting into some comfy clothes and blasting your favourite songs or putting on a series in the background. It's honestly really fun and makes me feel good.

Feeling wanted
This is something that I struggle with a lot, but it is something that makes me feel happy knowing I am wanted whether it's by my family or friends or even a date. It's just the little things like the messages of someone checking on you, the effort of actually seeing each other and doing something. Feeling wanted is definitely something that makes me feel happy whenever it happens.

My PlayStation
I recently got a PS4, and I honestly love it. I don't know what took me so long to get one. I use it pretty much every day. It makes me happy because I can get lost in a video game or just watch either a film or series. It just always brings me joy and I don't know what I'd do without my PlayStation.

Pasta
Finally, my favourite food of all time is Pasta. It's one of those foods that if I had to eat for the rest of my then I would. I just love many pasta dishes like Spaghetti Bolognaise, Pasta Bake and even just a simple tomato and basil pasta dish. It's definitely a food that I will always happily choose and always crave on a weekly basis. So, it didn't feel right to talk about all the things that made me happy and not mention pasta.

So, those are eleven things that make me happy. Let me know if any of these also make you happy or if there is anything that's not on this list that make you happy, I would love to hear it.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back soon with another post.
