How To Prepare For University

Image
September is probably a nervous time for a lot of you as some of you may be going off to university or college for the first time. It’s an eye opening experience because it’s your first real opportunity of being an adult. It can be exciting but also very daunting. As someone who went to university twice to do a bachelors and masters, I learned a few things along the way. Of course this isn’t just a post for the freshers, maybe you’re a returning student that might need a refresher on how to prepare for university. Either way I hope there’s something for everyone. Let’s get started. Make sure your accommodation is sorted This may be an obvious one but hopefully you did it all when you got accepted or applied. I can’t actually remember if it was before or after I got accepted but either way make sure you know where you’re staying. The first time around I stayed in the quiet halls of residence which actually wasn’t very quiet but it was pretty decent. It was more a case of no noise after ...

Interview Preparation

Image
Interviews are scary things. It's hard to know what to expect or what kind of questions will be asked. Your worst fear is they ask you something and you've got nothing. It can be nerve wracking when you get offered an interview which is why I thought I'd share my top tips on how to prepare for an interview and hopefully those nerves will go away. Maybe not all of them but most of them after you read this post. Let's get started. 1. Research It's important when you get offered an interview to do a little research. If it's a job, read up the job description. Figure out what they're looking for. See if they've got any interview questions online. If not, analyse the job description to see what sort of questions they might ask. Plus having some knowledge on the company can be really beneficial.  2. Have things to talk about Interviews are a way for companies to get to know who you are and the kind of person you are if they hire. Make sure you're prepared ...

Long Flight Preparation

Image
I feel like a flight that is longer than three hours can sometimes feel like a drag and in that time you want to keep yourself occupied while in a confined space. As someone who has just been to Cyprus which was a four hour flight, I figured out a few things that really helped me out. 1. Have a meal in the departure lounge This one is good if you don’t fancy buying the overpriced food on the plane, although in the airport a lot of things are more expensive than normal. I like to make sure I’m well fed before a flight so that I don’t have to worry too much about buying the plane food which can be quite expensive. Although it still doesn’t stop me from buying some mini cheddars on the plane.  2. Portable charger is a life saver Having a portable charger is a life saver because it means you don’t have to wander around the airport looking for a plug. On my plane they had usb ports which was very handy but I still had my portable charger for the airport which really helped me out. 3. Do...

Interview Preparation

Image
As someone that was unemployed for many months, the job hunt can be the most stressful time because while there are jobs around, whether someone hires you is another thing. However, you may find yourself one of the lucky ones who gets called for an interview. Therefore, I thought I might offer some tips on how to get through an interview.  1. Dress Smartly This may be the most obvious tip but sometimes people may forget. Remember this is the first impression of your potential future employer gets of you and if you dress smart then that looks good on you because it shows you care about how you look as well as that's the expectation the employer will have of you that you will dress smartly for work. Either way, dress smart like wearing a shirt or a blouse. Don't wear jeans because that doesn't look good. You can always dress smart casual where the job maybe a little laid back but making the effort to look presentable for the interview can leave a big impression on your future...

Prom Preparation

Image
This post today is about preparing for prom or a ball or an evening due in which you have to wear a dress or something fancy. Now I'm doing this post as this Sunday my university is holding a black and white Summer Ball. I know around this time of year there's proms, leavers and other fancy things going on so I thought I'd share with you guys what I'm going to do to prepare for this Summer ball. 1. The outfit You need to make sure you have your whole outfit sorted for the night. From the dress to the shoes to the jewellery. Try it on. Make sure it fits. You want to make sure you have an outfit you can wear or you'll be panicking on the actual day. Also make sure you have the perfect shoes, jewellery and bag to match with your outfit. Then you'll feel so happy and make sure your comfortable in what you wear like your shoes for example. Practice walking around in your shoes and if they hurt after an hour or two then change them because you don't want you...
