Motivation

After posting for the entire month of December, it was a wonder I still had motivation but I realised that with a bit of determination you can really put your mind to things if you put in the effort.

Honestly, the secret to being motivated is effort. If you really want to do something then you have to put in the effort for it. If you read my previous post, you know that one of my new year resolutions is to publish 150 blog posts in 2024 and in order to know that then I need to put in the work. I don't have an awful lot of legroom to take blogging breaks this year as I did last year and of course that means I have to put in the effort to keep motivated.

Now you may be wondering how I do it. Honestly, I use the simple art of self motivation. I tell myself, I need to and when I have a bit of free time in my day. Whether that's in the morning before work or after work, I take some time to write a post. Even if I just spend an hour writing up a couple of posts. It really helps me out. I also make sure I have a list of ideas so that when I do go to write a post, I have a list I can choose from. This helps me keep me motivated because sometimes one idea could inspire another idea. It's important when you do have that motivation to make the most of it. Keep going for as long as you can because you can get so much done when you have that motivation. That's why I find myself writing five posts whenever I take advantage of that motivation. I've also learned that it doesn't always have to be confined to when I'm at home on my laptop. Even when I'm out and about if an idea springs to mind or a little bit of motivation comes when I'm in a cafe or waiting for a bus, I'll use my notes app to write up a post. It's a rough draft that I know I can edit later but sometimes all you need is a little bit of motivation to write and suddenly you have a post that's nearly ready to go.

Another thing that's keeping me motivated is the space around me. If my surroundings are cluttered then that is something that makes me unmotivated because I'll easily be distracted by the clutter. However, you can counteract that and use a little bit of motivation to tidy up your surroundings. At least then you're doing something productive by tidying up your surroundings. Plus sometimes doing something productive can help you to stay productive as suddenly you'll want to do more productive things and that way it will get you motivated to keep going with all the things you want to do during the day.

The final thing that keeps me motivated is to write a list of everything I want to do on the day. I live by to do lists and it doesn't matter how big or how small the list is, it feels great every time you cross something off the list. It also helps you to stay organised with everything you need to get done during the day. My biggest tip is to do the hardest thing first that way as soon as that's over and done with then the rest of the list can be so much easier. Plus it's a good feeling when you cross everything off your list because then you can tell yourself you had a productive day and then to top it off, you can reward yourself with a treat or do something you enjoy as you've earned it.

There we have it, those are my thoughts and tips on motivation. Let me know your biggest tip for staying motivated and maybe we can all help each other to keep motivated for this new year.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then.
