Motivation

Image
After posting for the entire month of December, it was a wonder I still had motivation but I realised that with a bit of determination you can really put your mind to things if you put in the effort. Honestly, the secret to being motivated is effort. If you really want to do something then you have to put in the effort for it. If you read my previous post, you know that one of my new year resolutions is to publish 150 blog posts in 2024 and in order to know that then I need to put in the work. I don't have an awful lot of legroom to take blogging breaks this year as I did last year and of course that means I have to put in the effort to keep motivated. Now you may be wondering how I do it. Honestly, I use the simple art of self motivation. I tell myself, I need to and when I have a bit of free time in my day. Whether that's in the morning before work or after work, I take some time to write a post. Even if I just spend an hour writing up a couple of posts. It really helps me ou...

Autumn Boredom

Image
As the days start to get shorter, the weather starts to get colder or rain a lot more than it can be a real struggle to find things to do especially on your days off. You may find yourself scrolling on social media or watching YouTube videos before realising your day has been wasted not doing anything productive. I thought I'd share some ideas on things you can do over these next Autumn and Winter months when you're bored. 1. Binge watch a TV series/Movie Marathon This one is a fun idea and you can make a whole day out of it. If there's a TV series you've been meaning to watch but just haven't found the time to do so then why not plan on your next day off to have a day where you binge watch a show. Go all out with snacks and make your room nice and cosy. I know it's not the most productive thing to do but it might make you happy especially if you've been excited about watching a series. Even watching a movie series can also be fun. Make your room look like a...

Tidy Home Tidy Mind

Image
One thing I've been meaning to do this month is tidy my bedroom. During the winter my room has been a little mouldy and also felt a little cluttered to me. As much as I love my cute décor in my bedroom, the amount of dust it picks up is ridiculous so I thought I may as well have a sort out of my room.  It's always a struggle when you decide to have a tidy up because when you start pulling things off your surfaces to wipe and everything just ends up cluttering on your bed, you start to regret it. With a little burst of motivation though I managed to tidy up my room and it's just a satisfying feeling afterwards when you've finished. Everything looks so much neater and less cluttered. I've managed to get rid of the mould on the ceiling and it feels very refreshing. I've even changed my bedsheets too. To end this tidy up, I had a nice bath and put on fresh pyjamas this evening which feels lovely in my tidy bedroom.  All worth it in the end.  Anyway, I hope this post...

Things To Do Before University Begins

Image
1. Pack Obviously you need to pack before you go to university. I'm not sure I know many people who move away to university for the first time and not bring anything with them. It's physically impossible and you don't have a lot of time to buy everything when you're there. Of course if you've forgotten anything then you can buy it when you get there but that's it. I'd recommend starting packing one month before you go. Don't pack everything but just start packing little things and work out things that you don't have yet that you need to get. It will save you a lot of time on the day before you move to university if you have everything packed and ready and you can just do one final check of it all. 2. Make a LinkedIn Page  You may not think this is important before you go to university but trust me it will come in handy. Especially when it comes to network and search for employment, at least you have a LinkedIn profile they can look at. It...

August Plans

Image
I cannot believe it's finally August. This year has kind of been a crazy and unpredictable year full of ups and downs. To think in just over a month, I will finally been moving up to Manchester to go and study my master's degree. I thought I'd take this moment to share with you my August plans as I have a busy month planned. Declutter  As I'm moving away from home, I think it's about time I have one final sort out and declutter before I go. I have been decluttering a lot this year but I think I need to get it done one final time before I move. Of course I know when I move I'm not going to take everything but the kitchen sink and my mum has said I can keep stuff at her house but it only seems fair to at least go through what's important and what's not. So yeah I'm going to be doing a lot of decluttering this month. Packing This ties in with the previous goal and of course because I'm moving in just over a month, I think it's about time...

Summer Bucket List

Image
Obviously Summer is probably going to be different than the previous summer's we've had. No holidays. No festivals. Not even going onto the beach with friends. Keeping socially distanced. However, all this is not going to stop me from creating a Summer Bucket List with all the things I want to do which is acceptable during these uncertain times of lockdown. Plus involve staying at home. So here is my Summer Bucket List. 1. Read all of my TBR on my bookshelf I always find the Summer the perfect time to get some reading done as it's nice weather and you can pretty much read everywhere. My goal is to read all of my bookshelf before September rolls around as I should hopefully be off to university by then.  Also it will feel great to know I've read all of my books on my bookshelf so I won't have to feel the guilt of buying a new book. This goal is a little ambitious as I am a bit of a slow and lazy reader but I do hope to do a lot of reading this Summer. 2. Finis...

Rearranging

Image
One thing that has been keeping me a little busy recently is rearranging my bedroom. It's kind of fun to just switch things up sometimes. Especially now because I have been spending a lot of time in my bedroom, I have kind of gotten bored. A few weeks ago me and my mum carried our old sofa up the stairs (Yes it was totally like that scene in Friends where Ross carries the sofa up the stairs and screams PIVOT!). We were going to put it in the spare bedroom or in my mum's room but then I thought it would be a cool idea to put it in my bedroom as like a little reading space. We didn't think we would be able to do it but somehow we managed to get the sofa up the stairs and fit it in my bedroom. It's kind of nice because my bedroom is also like my own little living room. My family now jokes it's like my own studio flat now. I like how my room is arranged right now. It took some time to get used to but I actually quite like it. Definitely think about having a little...

Spring Cleaning

Image
Spring is pretty much and the perfect time for a spring clean. I thought I'd make this little post to inspire you and motivate you to do a spring clean. Whether that's your entire home or your bedroom. It's better than nothing. So here are my tips to start the perfect spring clean. 1. Make your bed up I always find the first place to start any cleaning is to make your bed. When your bed is made then it's the first step to a tidy bedroom. It's also the perfect time to change your bedding. It does make sense that if you're tidying your bedroom and have fresh bedding. It always feels great at the end of the day to get into bed and have fresh bedding. It feels great. 2. Do some laundry Gather any clothes on the floor or in the laundry basket. Do a bit of laundry. Knowing your clothes are also having a clean will motivate you to clean your bedroom. 3. Make a list I always find following a list helps me out and gives me a bit of focus on what to clean n...

Self-Care Tips

Image
Life can be hard and sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves. I've come up with a few tips and tricks to give yourself a little self-care 1. Journaling I've mentioned this a few times recently but honestly journaling and writing down your thoughts onto paper can be such a great way to take care of yourself. It's like your letting go of any negative thoughts and worries onto the paper. It's kind of a relief once you've let go of all the negative thoughts and you can kind of see the bigger picture. You can focus more on the positive thoughts and things that make you happy. Give it a try. Go out and buy another notebook (I'm guilty of buying too many notebooks and not using them) then start journaling all your thoughts down. It really will help you out a lot and feel like your letting go of all your negative thoughts. 2. Go For A Walk Just getting in that little bit of exercise by just going for a walk. I'm not saying go for a long walk bu...

How Not To Get Stressed This Christmas

Image
Ah Christmas, a time where people get way too stressed about everything. Having the perfect Christmas. Buying Christmas presents. Buying enough food to cater everyone's food intolerance. Decorating the house. Many of these things can make people stressed and make people forget that it doesn't have to be this way. It's meant to be a time where we can relax. It only happens once a year and we can all have the best day ever. I thought I'd share some of my tips on how not to get stressed this Christmas. 1. Make a list You know the song 'Santa Claus is Coming To Town' and the lyric 'He's making a list. He's checking it twice.' Why not apply this lyric to your own life. Make a list of everything you need to do this Christmas and check it twice. List everything from decorating the house to buying the Christmas dinner. If you have it all written down then at least you can check things off and make sure you've done everything. If you're st...

Day Off

Image
When you work for most of the week then days off seem so rare. Yet when they happen I sometimes feel like I never fully appreciate the fact that I have a day off. I mostly just laze about watching YouTube videos or Netflix and just barely do anything. Yet I want to change that so I thought I'd share some suggestions on what to do on a day off. This is something to give you some ideas and for me to look back on when I'm bored on a day off. Let's get started! 1. Get Up. Get Out It's so tempting to just stay in bed and be lazy on your day off. However, that's just a wasted day. I mean it's okay to do so. I'm not judging. I have plenty of lazy days off but sometimes they do just feel like wasted days. I watched one of my favourite movies the other day which is The Intern which stars Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. I'd highly recommend you give it a watch if you have not seen it already because it is a really nice feel good film. One of the q...

Start Of Something New

Image
Happy New Year! It's the start of something new! I can't quite believe that 2017 is over and it is now 2018. That's just crazy. For me 2018 is kind of a big year and I'm hoping it's going to be my year. I'm finishing my final year of university this year and hopefully graduating. I'm also going to be practising driving in the summer and hopefully passing my test. I'm also offically going to be an adult and no longer a student. Sad times. Anyway, I thought I'd share with you all some of my goals that I have for 2018. Here we go: 1. Complete university and get my degree Now this is an achievable goal because I will be completing university this year and hopefully getting my degree at the end of it. I just thought I'd start this list of goals with something I know I can do so that at least I'll achieve at least one of my goals this year. Although I do try want to complete all of them if I can. 2. Have an after uni plan Like so...
