Day In The Life Of A Student In Lockdown

Being a student in lockdown was definitely not how I imagined doing my masters originally but here we are so I may as well make the most of it. One thing I've noticed is how much I've grown ever since we switched to online learning. I've realised how important communication is and getting involved with the work. It can be so easy when you're stuck at home to get lazy and procrastinate. However, you will fall behind immensely if you do that and before you know it it's deadline work where the panic sinks in. That's why it's so important to keep being productive and working hard every single day when you're a student in lockdown. That's why I thought I'd share my day in the life as being a student on lockdown.

Let's get started
Wake up at 8am
I always set my alarm for 8am in the morning even when I don't have an online lecture like on this particular day, I just find it's important to start the day early but not too early.
Coffee!
If anyone knows me, knows I cannot function without my coffee in the morning so I got to have my coffee. I don't usually eat breakfast in the morning. I know it's the most important meal of the day but I'm just never hungry in the morning. That's just me.
The News
Recently I've been watching the news although it's usually the same thing: The coronavirus, lockdown lifting, Harry & Meghan. I don't spend too long watching it although this came the day after the Queen's statement on Harry & Meghan's interview so I was curious.
Time to wash my face and brush my teeth
I like to wash my face with my Simple moisturising face wash. This is my new favourite facial wash because I have sensitive skin and this just feels so nice plus I love the way it foams on my face. Of course I got to brush my teeth as well in the morning because I hate when I don't brush my teeth, I feel gross.
Make The Bed
Always got to make the bed in the morning. My room looks a mess when it's not made. It just makes me feel so much better to make it.
Checking my blog
On this day I had to check my blog as a post was published at 8am on this morning.
Promote It On Twitter
I always like to promote my posts on Twitter, it's definitely something that helps to get more people see it plus the use of hashtags always helps too.
Pin The Post To Pinterest
Another thing I like to do to help promote my post is post it onto Pinterest. It just works for me, I'm not sure why as I find Pinterest a little confusing but it helps.
Check my blog page views
This morning I also checked my blog's page views and I'm always so amazed at the face that over 36k have viewed my blog. I started this blog as just a little hobby where I'd post randomly but after nearly seven years of blogging, it's just crazy to me so many people might have seen my blog and read a post I wrote. It's incredible and I absolutely love blogging so much. I don't think I'll ever stop to be honest because a lot of my life is in this blog. When I went through Sixth Form, Uni, living at home, uni again and lockdown, a lot of it is in this blog. I sometimes read back on some of my posts and cringe a little at how bad the writing is but I wouldn't change it for the world because it's brought me to right here, writing this post for you guys now. Anyway, on with the rest of the day.
Eastenders catch up
I like to spend my morning watching something while enjoying my coffee. On this day I was catching up on Eastenders because I've become obsessed with watching Eastenders this past year so I always like to keep up to date.
Writing This Blog
During Eastenders, I actually made a start in writing this blog post and I actually managed to get up to this point when Eastenders finished so I was already making some good progress with this post.
Skincare
After Eastenders, it's time to actually get ready for the day. I usually start with my skincare. For my skincare, I use my Loreal Paris Fine Flowers Toner, this is a recent purchase and I love it. It feels no nice on my skin and feel it helps my skin out a lot. I then follow it with my Simple light moisturiser. I find it's important to moisturise my face.
Make Up
Now time for my makeup. I don't always wear makeup but I have an interview I need to be present for so I like to make myself look presentable. Below is an image of all the products I use. I like to keep my makeup simple.
Get dressed
It's important to get dressed, especially in lockdown. Being stuck at home it's very easy to get into the habit of wearing pyjamas but that's not good for your mental health and wellbeing. I find being in pyjamas means being lazy, for relaxing in the evening and sleep. Not for being productive.
More Coffee!
I always go through lots of coffee in the morning so it's no surprise that I'm having more coffee.
Check my diary
After I get ready I like to check my diary and as you can see on this day I had an interview at 11am and I was going to be working on my research proposal as well on this day.
Prepping Notes
For this interview, it's for primary research for a live client brief. I'm just taking notes for this interview while another is conducting the interview. This is the second interview we've done so far and it's going well.
Laptop time
Then it's time for the interview itself which obviously I can't show you for privacy reasons but it is being done through Microsoft Teams which has been a useful app during this whole pandemic and online learning. I spend a lot of my time in front of my laptop most days so this is nothing unusual for me.
Organise my notes
After the interview I had to organise my notes and I put all my notes in this cool folder which I've had for the longest time but I love it. I would highly recommend keeping your notes in a folder.
Lunch Time!
For lunch I made some egg noodles with veg. It was very random but very tasty. I forgot to capture a photo of it so you just have a nice view of my stove.
More Coffee!
Yep got to have another mug of coffee while I do my work just because.
Research!
I decided to work on some research for my dissertation so that's exactly what I'm doing. Trying to find references is not fun.
Even more coffee!
From doing this post, I've realised this is my fourth mug of coffee and that I drink a lot of coffee in one day. I think I have a problem. Oops.
Working on this blog post again
As I knew there was going to be so many photos for this day in the life, I thought I'd better upload the ones I currently had onto this post to save me doing it later.
Closing my laptop
There comes a time when you've done a lot of work and it's time to switch off so this was one of those times.
Staring at the ceiling and listening to music
Not gonna lie, after I got off my laptop I decided to lay on my bed staring at the ceiling and listen to my music. I spent quite a while doing this but I literally didn't know what else to do. I may or may not have had a little boogie in bedroom.
My favourite songs
Here is some of my favourite songs I love listening to. Yes it is a very random selection but I love them all.
Dinner time
I'm not a vegetarian but I've been loving these veg fingers from Tesco. They are a delicious snack or meal to have.
A veggie wrap dinner
I've been loving making veggie wraps for dinner recently with some lettuce and chilli sauce. It is so delicious.
Eastenders again
On this night was Eastenders night so I decided to watch it in my living room while I had my dinner.
Wash up
The life an adult, there's always washing up to do so obviously I had to do it after I had my dinner.
Got to have a drink
I always have to a drink when I go upstairs for bed so I made some ice cold water and made myself a cup of tea. I also had biscuits because why not.
Movie Time
I decided to watch a movie on this night and I watched Charlie and the Chocolate factory because it is a movie I have not seen in the longest time. I also prefer this version over the original but that is my personal preference.
Sleepy Time
After the movie, I most likely fell asleep so here is a photo of the darkness to represent that.

There we go! That's my day in my life as a student in lockdown. Hope you enjoyed my typical day in my life. Let me know what your typical day is currently like in lockdown. I would love to hear it.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back again soon with another blog post.

See you then.
