5 Ways To Unwind

It's so important after a busy and long day to have some downtime. Winding down is really important especially during this whole pandemic where everything feels so stressful at the moment and you may be feeling a tense. That's why I put together my top five ways to unwind for the evening.

1. Bath/Shower
My first tip is to have either a bath or shower, whatever you prefer and wash away the stresses of the day. If I want to relax and take my time, I usually have a bath. I like having a bath bomb and lots of bubbles in the bath. I'll set my laptop up and watch something while I have a bath. Although lately I've been listening to an audiobook which has been really nice too. Of course I do love my showers because they are so much more convenient. Just do whatever works for you but this can be the start of your evening downtime.
2. Pyjamas!
There is nothing like getting into some fresh new pyjamas after you've had a wash in the evening. They always just feel so soft and nice plus you feel very clean. Definitely would recommend this. Maybe order some new pyjamas if you're feeling like you've had it with old pyjamas. You can never have too many pyjamas especially in lockdown.
3. Malt drink
Recently I've been enjoying having a warm malt drink in the evening. I've given up chocolate for lent so hot chocolate is out of the question. Instead I bought some Horlicks and I've been really enjoying it. For some reason it just makes me feel so relaxed in the evening. I love it.
4. Reading
Another thing I've been getting back into recently is reading. I've only read one book so far this year which is terrible for me. I've just been so busy with my university coursework to think about reading, however this term I have less modules which means more time to spend reading. It's just relaxing to sit down and read a few chapters. It just takes my mind away from the stresses of the day and escape into the pages of the book.
5. Journaling
I've always been a big fan of journaling because it's just a place I can write my most inner thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement or anyone else reading them. You'd be surprised how deep some of entries have been. Something I read about journaling is that it's like taking your thoughts and worries out of your head and writing them down onto the page which is so true. It definitely feels like a weight has been lifted when I write in my journal. Is it weird that I still write Dear Diary? It's just a habit I have. I sometimes like to think my journal is like Tom Riddle's diary and there's someone listening to my thoughts although if my journal started talking back to me, I might freak out.
Anyway, that's my five ways on how to unwind. I hope they were helpful. Let me know in the comments below if you have any other ways to unwind, this way we can all help each other out.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back soon with another post.

See you then.
