Things I Regret About University

Image
As someone who decided to go to university twice, I have to say that there were a lot of good points about going to university. There were a lot of things I'd wish I'd done differently so here are five things I regret about university.  1. Moving into a student house For my second year, I moved into a student house and it was great because it was nice to have my own place plus I got to share with three others. It was nice to have our own bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room. Plus it was a nice house. However, one thing that happened was it did feel a bit isolated from university. Freshers were definitely not the same and it definitely didn't feel like we were a part of the action on campus even though we were a five minute walk away. We never really got involved with any student events and it just felt like we were out of the way from other students. As much I loved living in the student house as it was nicer than halls to an extent, however it was very isolating. 2. ...

Should You Get A Master's Degree?

Image
As someone who finished her master's last year and ended up getting a merit in the end. Was it all worth it? Well, it was different for me because I studied during the pandemic and only went to face to face lectures about ten times but most of the time of it was spent online which honestly sucked. I know the convenience of online lectures, but you feel very isolated from everyone and don't even really know the other students in your lecture. You're sometimes forced into a breakout room which is even more awkward because you don't even know who you're working with. Sometimes, you felt yourself switching off during the lecture because it would just be a PowerPoint presentation with no interaction the things sometimes went wrong like the screen would freeze or you can't even see the presentation. The one good thing to come out of it all was I learned how to work in a group remotely and even became the project manager of the group plus do a group presentation entire...

Where Have I Been?

Image
Oh boy, I meant to make this post back in September, but I wasn't happy with the post I made and then I completely forgot until now.  I don't even know how to explain my absence from this blog because I don't know why I left it so long. I had planned to blog every day in August I even have 8 draft posts but a lot of them were unfinished and the posting never happened. Let's just say life got in the way and a lot has happened since I last posted on here.  As some of you know if you've been reading my blog, I was in Manchester this year studying for my master's degree and over the summer I had a 14,000 word dissertation to complete. My life became very busy and stressful doing this dissertation but also the worry about what I was going to do after my master's degree. My original plan was to do an internship after my dissertation but after several unsuccessful interviews and job applications that didn't happen, so I had to move back to plan B which is to mo...

I Don't Know What To Do With My Life

Image
I thought I'd make this post because I know there is probably a lot of people who feel the same way I do and have no idea what to do with my life.  I'm twenty four and if someone tells me where do I want to be in five years? Honestly, I have no idea. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an unhappy person. I'm currently studying a master's degree in Manchester and I'm happy that I've managed to do this. However, in two months I'll be moving back home to Wales and if you're wondering what's next after that. Honestly, no idea. Not a clue. All I know is I'll be surrounded by the best supportive people I know, and they are my family and my best friend. It may feel like you're taking a step back moving back home after living on your own, but it is not. It is hard knowing I could be living in Manchester and embracing the opportunity, I love the city of Manchester and I know for a fact I will return one day but at the moment I'm not in the best fi...

University Room Tour

Image
Hi Readers! For those of you who don't know I'm currently studying a masters degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and I thought it would be a fun to do a university room tour. I had done one of these in my first year way back in 2016 of my halls of residence room and I thought it would be fun to do it again for this room as I really love this room. Plus this a great way for me to look back and remember so it's kind of a win win, Also you may get some inspiration for your own university room or even your bedroom. I hope you like it and let's get on with the room tour.  This is what you see when you enter my bedroom. It's not a big room but it's big enough for me.  To the right as you enter is two hooks (the handiest thing to have in a uni bedroom) and I just hang my everyday bags, coats and dressing gown. It's just very handy to have. If you saw my first uni room tour you'll know there was no hooks like this in that room so I was very happy with t...

Day In The Life Of A Student In Lockdown

Image
Being a student in lockdown was definitely not how I imagined doing my masters originally but here we are so I may as well make the most of it. One thing I've noticed is how much I've grown ever since we switched to online learning. I've realised how important communication is and getting involved with the work. It can be so easy when you're stuck at home to get lazy and procrastinate. However, you will fall behind immensely if you do that and before you know it it's deadline work where the panic sinks in. That's why it's so important to keep being productive and working hard every single day when you're a student in lockdown. That's why I thought I'd share my day in the life as being a student on lockdown.  Let's get started Wake up at 8am  I always set my alarm for 8am in the morning even when I don't have an online lecture like on this particular day, I just find it's important to start the day early but not too early. Coffee! If a...
