Day 7 Book

Image
The seventh photo of my August Photo Challenge is a book. The book I'm currently reading is The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. I'm enjoying it so far and I'm excited to see where it goes. The only slight niggle I have is I'm slightly getting bored of true crime stories probably because I've read so many and I would really love to read a contemporary romance novel. I may have to break my rule and read two books at once. I'm not quite sure what to read though so I may reread one I've already got. I'm just in the mood for a bit of romance in my life and the only romance I get these days is through books. I was eying up my bookshelf the other day and there are so many books I would love to reread again. A series I'm really tempted to read is the Shopaholic series again as it has been so long since I last read it fully. Although, I'm not sure I can handle another series while I'm currently reading a series. I may just have to stick to a st...

Things I Loved About University

Image
Yesterday, I talked about all the things I regret about university so let's spin the negative into a positive and talk about five things I loved about university. Let's get started. 1. The independence One of the best things about moving away from home and going to university is the independence. Finally, you can learn how to be an adult and do things on your own without your parents being there. It's a chance to learn how to cook, clean, shop and look after yourself. Finally, your life is in your hands. Of course you have lecturers telling you what to do but you have complete freedom to do what you like. It's also a chance on how to learn how to live on your own. Before I went to university, I didn't even know how to do laundry and the only thing I knew how to cook was noodles. Gradually, I learned how to do those things. Granted, the first time in the laundry room, I went with people and secretly got help on how to do it. I learned you just set the timer, throw in...

Dissertation Survival Guide

Image
I may be a little late to the party as I assume dissertations will be due in around March/April time or maybe this might be the perfect time who need any sort of motivation to keep going with their dissertation. I thought I'd come on here and give any of you who may be procrastinating your dissertations right night a little bit of advice maybe even some inspiration to throw on top of that. As someone who has done a 10,000 word dissertation and a 14,000 word dissertation plus got a 2:1 grade on both of them, I thought I'd give you some tips on how to get through your dissertation.  1. Communicate with your supervisor Everyone gets a supervisor when they do a dissertation. Usually, you first meet your supervisor with a group of students who may be doing similar topics but most of the time it will be one on one with your supervisor. My biggest tip is to communicate with your supervisor. My biggest tip is to communicate with your supervisor no matter what because they want to help ...

Study Tips

Image
As someone who has finished school and done university twice, I know how stressful it can be to revise for exams and do assignments. You may think February is too early to start studying but honestly the sooner the better. I thought I'd share my tips for getting through studying and writing assignments. Write a list of all your deadlines in order I know that may seem daunting but it's really important to have a visual of when all your deadlines are and when they're due. It will make you realise how much time you have to do each one. Plus when you finish that particular assignment it's satisfying to cross them off. Making a list of your deadlines just helps to prioritise which assignments you need to focus on.  Start finding references early The hardest part of assignments is finding the references to back the points you make. It may be a struggle to find some, but you do have access to the resources at your fingertips. Lectures tend to have their lecture slides availabl...

I'm Back

Image
Hello everyone! I know it's been two months since I last made a blog post. To be honest with you, I don't really know why it has taken me this long to write a blog post. England has been in lockdown after all so you'd think I'd have time to make a blog post. I guess I've been busy working on assignments while also trying not to get stressed over these assignments. I guess blogging just sort of took a backseat in my life because I was focusing on writing for these assignments, I couldn't focus on writing blog posts. I've come to learn I'm not the best at multitasking.  Another thing really is I wasn't really sure what to post about because nothing exciting has really happened these past two months. My day is even going into uni once a week for lectures or doing an online lecture or going to the library. When it's not related to uni, I'll be doing my weekly trip to the supermarket on my student budget to buy essentials or else be in my room eit...

Study Tips

Image
During my week of university related posts, I thought it would only seem fitting to make a study tips post as you will be doing a lot of studying. This can also be related to school, college, university or if you're feeling productive. These tips can help you with your studying. 1. To Do Lists To do lists are a great way to organise yourself. They don't have to be huge lists but if you have around four or five things on there then you can get it done. A good tip is to start with the task you least want to do so that way you can get that done first then the rest will be easier for you. It's also very satisfying to cross things off your to do list once you've done which can be a motivation in itself. 2. Find a good work space that works for you One thing I can strongly recommend is do not work on your bed. I know it's comfy and very tempting but honestly you won't work that well sitting in bed. As it's the place you sleep and relax on then your mind wi...

Productive Day Secrets

Image
Do you ever just have those days where you're struggling to find any motivation to do work and you have all these responsibitilies you need to get done but all you wanna do is relax, take a nap and watch some Netflix. Well, this can be a problem but I am here to help you so that you can say you have had a productive day and feel like you've actually achieved something. Although I understand that sometimes it's a lack of motivation that's putting you off but hopefully these tips can get you out of that funk. 1. Wake Up Early Sometimes I find a productive day starts when I've woken up early. I'm talking waking up at a reasonable time like 8am or anything before 9am. Just the fact that you've woken up and ready to start the day means you're already on your way to having a productive day. Waking up early also means you have more hours in the day so if you get all the things you need to do done in the day then you have the rest of the day to chill ou...

Dissertation Tips

Image
I know I said in my last post that I'd make a post after my lecture at two but you know I had some thoughts and feelings as well as talks with my friends about this year. Mostly about this looming dissertation which I was freaking out about. However, I've figured out a way to make it less stressful and easier than what I was originally anticipating. I thought I'd share the advice I've learned with you guys to help you as well as a reminder to myself on how to get through the dreaded dissertation. 1. Break It Down I know a dissertation has a lot of words. In my uni, the minimum word count is 8,000 words and the maximum word count is 10,000. That is a lot of words to write and it just seems like so much. However, if you break the word count down month by month, section by section then you'll realise that it might be easier than you originally thought. For example I set a goal to get 4,500 words done by Christmas. How I broke that down is by splitting the wor...

University Dos and Don'ts

Image
As it's coming up to the time where everyone is going back to university. There are a few dos and don'ts which you may need to know. This is just my own opinion as I'm coming up to my final year of university and here's a few things which I have learnt along the way. I'm sure there are many so let's just get on with it. . Dos: Be yourself. If you stay true to who you are and you'll make more friends in long run and you don't have to pretend. Plus everyone likes different persoanlities and they'll soon warm up to yours. Be adaptable. Adapt to different personalities and try new things. Be an open book to everything and anyone. You're more likely to make more friends if you adapt but don't change yourself completely. Go out and meet new people. If you walk around your halls, someone will have their door open and you can go in for a chat. Hang out with people. Show that you can be a socialable person sometimes. Make a plan to do som...

Assignment Advice

Image
It feels like my life is like a never ending cycle of doing assignments for university. It's particular more noticeable as the deadlines get closer and the time to complete assignments are running out. I have completed all of my assignments now. I just need to read over and submit one more then that will be my second year over and done with. That's because I have this experiential learning in my university after Easter for five weeks which is like doing a work placement but it's set in university and basically it's just like doing a 9 to 5 job. Now as I have only one more assignment to submit and I've spent most of my time freaking out about all the assignments I've had to do, I thought I would share some advice with you guys on what I have learned. Let your housemates know you have assignments Honestly, my housemates have been so supportive as they also have assignments to do with similar deadlines to me so letting them know all my deadlines and assign...

University Study Tips!

Image
Hey guys! Long time no post! I feel like I say that a lot on this blog but sometimes it happens. However, I'm still here and I have been busy with just life and uni work as this is my last month of second year and the pressure to get things done is one. As I've been studying and doing assignments that I'd share with you my study tips which I have learnt over this period of time which might be helpful to some of you guys. Treat your uni work as a nine to five job This has probably been one of the best tips I've ever been given by someone. If you spend around six to eight hours a day doing your work then you'll get it done in no time. You can do this five days a week and have weekends off to do whatever you like. Just get yourself in a routine where you wake up early in the morning get ready for the day, eat breakfast then crack on with some work. If you do this everyday you'll feel more productive and your body clock will get used to the idea to wake u...

Library Study Session Essentials

Image
As many of students will tell that you will have a more productive study session in the library rather than in your bedroom (even if you are working on your bedroom desk, you will not be as productive). In my opinion working on assignments or studying for exams is a huge benefit to me and makes me even more productive than if I was in my bedroom. I think it's because I'm surrounded by other people who are working to and in the library (my library does this and I'm sure others do) but there's different floors dedicated to the noise level. There's a floor for group study session which is quite loud, there's a slightly quiet floor and then there's the top floor which is the very quiet floor which is where I go to do my work. I don't like to be distracted when I'm working because I like all my focus to be on the work so for me working in a quiet area where there aren't many people talking is a really help for me. Now I thought I'd share my...

Procrastination!

Image
Lately I've been procrastinating a lot and it really sucks. I've been procrastinating my life and things I want to do. It's like when I'm just sitting and watching a random YouTube video. I just think in the back of my mind 'I have this free time now, maybe I could do something productive like my assignments or maybe I should finally read the book I've been forgetting about for a while or maybe I should go shopping. Then I think of the words 'I'll do it later or I'll do it in an hour' and when the time comes, I'm still watching videos and I do eventually realise that I am wasting time and by the time I've realised this it's almost time to go to bed. This is a problem which I do have and I wish it would go away because I want to be so productive this year and make it the best year I possibly can for myself. Which is why I need to push myself a bit more and instead of saying 'I'll do it later' I will just go and do wh...

Tips On Being A Productive Student

Image
Ah the first couple of months of university are slowly passing. Nothing but relaxation until you realise there's about two weeks until your first deadline and guess what, you haven't even started. Don't panic. It's not like there's also about five more assignments due in straight after the first assignment. Oh wait yes there is. Okay, I know you want panic mode to be turned on but I can help. I'm sure some of you are probably in this kind of situation. You're not alone. There are people who probably won't start their assignments until the night before. This is a very bad idea. Just follow my tips and you'll be fine. 1. Make A Plan This will make you feel less stressed out. First work out how many days until your first assignment is due in and then find out how much work you have to do for this assignement. If it's an essay start your research about the topic. Get a book or two out of the library. Referencing is key in university so ...

My Desk Space

Image
I thought I'd share with you into a little glimpse into my desk space where I write my blog posts and it's where I'm starting to work on my assignments. I'm just going to say it's not the most organised but it's a working progress. Here we go.  This is above my desk where I just have some tissues, a clock, hole puncher, a note pad, a weekly planner and a whiteboard. I also have a mug where I just keep my pens, scissors, hairband and other random stuff. I have a little pot where I just keep some jewellery inside from when I went on holiday to Crete. I also have a tub of chewing gum as well. In this little jar I just keep some hair bobbles, clips and bobby pins inside. It's just so I have easy access to them and it looks kind of cute in the pot. I also have this little purse, make up bag thing from Zoella which has nothing in it. I don't have any use for it just yet so I just put it here and I thought it was cute as it ...
