The Story Of My Blog

Back in 2014, I was on YouTube watching YouTubers like DanIsNotOnFire, AmazingPhil and Zoella. It was a great time and something I thought would be fun to do. However, I didn't really fancy the whole being in front of the camera and putting myself out there. That's when I discovered Zoella's blog and thought it was a perfect idea to start my own little blog. Make posts and not have to show my face. Granted, I was really much of a writer. I was just a seventeen year old who was studying my A Levels. That didn't stop me before I knew it. I logged onto Blogspot (Now Blogger) and decided to create my blog.
The Name
Honestly when it came to naming my blog, I didn't really think too hard about it. I knew I wanted to have the name Megan in it because that's my name and I thought Megan's Blog might sound a little too boring. Also I think that name was long taken. Then came Megan Time and to me it makes sense because my little blog is my own personal space of the internet and when anyone visits my blog, they're using up their time to read something I wrote. Either way I thought it was simple and easy to find so Megan Time was born.

The First Post
I'm not going to lie to you but my first post absolutely sucks. I felt like I had to make a whole introduction thing as it was the first post and I decided to steal the 25 questions YouTube tag as a way for me to answer questions. Now, it's not the worst post in the world but I can see many faults. I didn't even put the post through spell or grammar check so there are probably many mistakes in there. Second, I didn't even have a title card in there. Also, I didn't even proofread it. I just copy and pasted the questions then typed out the answers then hit publish. No thought whatsoever. I feel like I've definitely grown since my first post. Especially when it comes to actually editing them. There's definitely a bit more thought there than there was when I was seventeen years old.

Growing the blog
If you look back to the year 2014, I made only fourteen posts and that's because this blog was a hobby. Plus when I started my blog I was about to do my AS exams so that's probably why I didn't blog much that year and I was starting out with barely any page views so I didn't really take it seriously. I think 2015 was the year I definitely stepped up my blogging game by posting regularly every month. I am more determined to take my blog seriously and become a regular post. I was heavily inspired by YouTubers I was watching at the time when it came to coming up with posts and I started editing my posts a little better by adding a title card to the posts which I think makes the post less boring and stands out more. Spelling and grammar still needed working on but other than that it was going great. What was really exciting was that was the year I went to University in September which gave me a lot of inspiration for the blog. Also I'm glad I did post more regularly because now I can go back on those posts and remincise on my time at university.

Eventually my blog kept improving and I was so excited. Especially when one of my posts randomly reached 2000 page views all because my university shared my post. Honestly, that was an amazing feeling and I'm so glad I've kept up to my blog to do this day.

We've now reached an incredible milestone of over 90,000 page views and that honestly means so much to me. I'm honestly grateful to anyone who has taken the time to view my blog and read a few of my posts. It makes it all worthwhile. I'm going to keep blogging for a long time and I hope you will stick around with me because there are plenty more memories and posts I could make.

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now about my blogging journey. I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then.
