Dealing With Stress

Sometimes life can be very stressful. Things don't always go to plan or unexpected things happen that can be very stressful to deal with. There are so many different causes of stress and I thought I'd share some tips on how to deal with stress so let's get started.

1. Take Regular Breaks
This one is a really important one as it's very easy to overdo and just keep going. You may think it's the right thing to do but actually it can cause you to burn out to the point you no longer have the energy anymore. Taking regular breaks can really benefit you as it gives you a chance to walk away from your work and recover a bit so that when you do get back to work you almost go back with a fresh set of eyes now that you've had a moment to take a breather for yourself. Everyone needs a break so be sure to take regular breaks and this may help to make you feel less stressed and give you a moment to just recover.

2. Indulge in some me time
This is another crucial element when dealing with stress and that is to make sure you take care of yourself. Make sure to take some time just to yourself to do something you love whether that's watching your favourite movie, playing a video game, doing a hobby you like. Sometimes it's good to forget the stresses of life and just take some time to improve your mental health by doing something that will make you happy. Even just doing a bit of self-care on yourself like having a shower or painting your nails or doing a bit of skin care can really benefit you because it gives you that feeling that you're getting your life together.

3. Get away for the night
I don't know about you but I love an excuse to pack a suitcase and go away on a little trip for the night. It's great to just avoid all the stresses of life and gives you a chance to just be yourself in a new place. Even your home can be stressful because there may be things falling apart or family is causing you to be stressed so why not just go away for the night. It doesn't have to be anywhere fancy. It could even be staying at a friend's house or booking a cheap hotel room not far away from where you live. If you want to go all out and travel to a new place for the night then go for it. The world is your oyster and I highly recommend taking a moment on your next two days off to get away for the night as it will relieve your stress and might make you feel better.

4. Talk to someone
One of the worst things you can do is bottle up your worries and stresses of the world by keeping it all to yourself. If work or life is getting too stressful for you and you feel like you can't get a hold of the stress then talk to someone about it. Whether it's your family, friends, co workers or even your boss can really benefit you because it will feel like a weight is being lifted off you and you'll feel so much better knowing you've confided in someone. They may even act on what you've told them like your boss may discuss putting less pressure on you by having someone help you with your work or maybe giving you less responsibilities. Either way these might benefit just so you don't feel less stressed. Talking to someone can really help you to deal with stress because everyone gets stressed, it's a very natural feeling and most people know how it feels so they will be willing to help you to be less stressed.

5. Try to be more positive
This may be difficult as when you're stressed, your judgement is mainly clouded with negative thoughts and it can be a real struggle to find the positives in a situation where it feels like everything is going wrong. Yet it's really important to try and find the positives no matter how small they are. It can really help you to see the reality that things go wrong all the time and most of the time it's not a big deal. Most mistakes are fixable. It's not the end of the world if things go wrong. It's a part of life. If we all got things right the first time we'd never learn anything. Finding the good in the bad can always help to deal with stress and in my opinion laughter can help cure a stressful situation. I often find myself laughing at my pain but that's just how I deal with situations. Just finding some positives can make you not focus solely on all the stressful things and make you see there are some positives in the situation. Either way it's really important to stay positive as that can benefit you in the long run when the stresses of life come knocking at your door.

There we have it, those are my tips on dealing with stress. I hope they were helpful to anyone who is currently dealing with the stresses of life. It sucks but you will get through it.
