Things To Do This Halloween

Halloween is just a week away and to many it may seem like just another day but for a lot of people Halloween is a time to make plans and celebrate the day for all its worth. I thought I'd share some ideas on things you can do this Halloween to get you ready for the spooky day.

1. Trick or Treat
This is an obvious one but trick or treating is a traditional thing when Halloween comes around. It's often where kids and teenagers dress up and go around knocking on neighbours doors for sweets. Of course I think trick or treating when you're an adult is often frowned upon but it's fun for the kids and teenagers as it's a chance for them to get lots of sweets. It's important though to only knock on people's houses that have a pumpkin outside their house as many don't like to be disturbed. Although some people just ignore that rule and knock anyway. On the other end, if you're like me and the thought of having people knock on your door throughout the night is something I don't like. Do what I do and turn the lights off at the front of the house as that way nobody will come knocking as they will think nobody is home or better yet just leave your house for a few hours and do something else if you really don't want to interact with any trick or treaters.

2. Halloween Party
This is a fun one to do with your friends or family which is to get dressed up and have a little party. It's always fun to get a chance to dress up especially when you're surrounded by people also dressed up too and it's a good excuse to just have a bit of fun. Have some food and drinks plus play games or even do some apple bobbing. You could even carve some pumpkins if you fancy or watch some scary movies together. Either way Halloween is a great excuse to have a party.

3. Movie Night
This one is an obvious one to do at Halloween, especially if you don't fancy going out or getting dressed up. Plus you can either do it with other people or on your own. The choice is yours. Having a movie night also doesn't have to be completely filled with scary movies. It could be movies that you like which could be considered scary to some people as there's blood and gore. I don't like horror movies but some movies that could be considered Halloween are a lot of Tim Burton's movies like Sweeney Todd, Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride and the Nightmare Before Christmas. These are tame movies if you're a scaredy cat like myself but still want to get in the spooky mood. Of course if I had friends or a partner I would watch horror as long as they didn't mind me hiding all the time. Either way you can make it a fun evening with snacks and comfy clothes to make it even more special.

4. Watch true crime
Now, I'm aware that I'm a weird person that gets terrified of horror movies that aren't real but would happily watch a real life true crime video and not bat an eyelid. I mainly watch it on YouTube where someone is telling me about the case as it feels a little reassuring and I only watch YouTubers that are very respectful to the cases themselves. My favourite true crime YouTubers are Danielle Kirsty, That Chapter, Eleanor Neale and a new one which I've started watching is Mollie Westbrook. I would love to hear any other recommendations of True Crime YouTubers as I'm always interested in different perspectives on cases. Watching some real life true crime videos or podcasts could really get you in the spooky mood as you know they are real life cases. Another one to binge watch is Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime cases as they have lots of episodes to watch on YouTube as Shane and Ryan provide an excellent commentary to these unsolved cases. I'm sad they stopped doing them now though but the videos are still available to watch if you are interested in getting into true crime as that's how I got into true crime videos.

5. Do something spontaneous
Of course, you don't have to do anything that relates to Halloween on October 31st. You can do whatever it is you want. Make the most of the day and go on an adventure. Do something different from your normal day. Treat yourself to a meal or go for a walk somewhere new. Just make the most of the day, even if you don't celebrate Halloween whatsoever, you can still have fun.

There we have it. Those are five things you can do this Halloween. Let me know what your plans are for this Halloween in the comments below, I would love to hear them.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then.
