Days Off Tips

Does anyone else just spend their days off work doing nothing? When I say nothing I mean just lazying about watching TV, movies, YouTube videos or just eating or barely doing anything important. When I'm working for most of the week I crave my days off to come then when they do come, I waste them away by doing nothing. All of a sudden time has gone by and I'm back at work. A part of me wished I had an exciting life where I did things on a daily basis but in all honest my life is pretty boring at the moment.

That is why I decided to make this post to motivate myself and anyone who spends their days off doing nothing to do something a little bit more interesting than just being lazy. These things I'm going to suggest consist of not having to spend any money because that is sometimes money is the thing that gets in the way of me actually doing anything. It does for me anyway because I'm trying to save money and not spend it on pointless things.

So here's a list of things you can do on your days off.

1. Go for a walk
Just get out of the house. Go for a walk somewhere or if you can drive take a drive somewhere. To the beach. Through the woods. To a park. Through the city/town centre. Through a village. Just put on your coat and shoes and get out of the house. Walks can be fun. Me personally when I go for a walk alone, I like to put my headphones in and listen to an audiobook or to some music. It just makes the walk seem fun because while your walking, your mind is indulged in whatever it is you are listening to. Also if you're walking with a friend or family member, have a good long chat. Talk about anything. Catch up. Talk about life. Your hopes and dreams and even go deeper into things you might be afraid of or are worried about. Just talk and walk. Honestly you'll feel like you've done something good by going for a walk. Also who knows what you'll find while out on your walk but you'll never know unless you go.

2. Spring Cleaning (doesn't matter what time of year it is)
When was the last time you had a clear out or is your bedroom a little bit messy and disorganised? Maybe it's another room in your house which you need to tidy and sort out? Whichever room or even if it's your entire place. Have a spring clean (it doesn't matter what time of the year it is). Trust me it'll pass the time and you'll feel like you've got your life organised. Whether it's rearranging, clearing out old junk or just tidying up. It's something to do and you'll feel loads better for doing it. Sometimes I feel like if I've cleaned my bedroom or organised my room then at least one part of my life is organised. It's a good feeling. Trust me so just start cleaning.

3. Read a book
Sometimes I like to get away from the screens of my phone and laptop. Instead I like to pick up a book and get lost in another world. I just love reading and letting my imagination run wild with the story. At the moment I'm rereading the Harry Potter series and I just love it. I'm listening to the audiobooks and it feels great. I like listening to the audiobooks because I can do things while listening to it. It's perfect for going for walks or even while I'm cleaning as I mentioned before. Reading is just a great way to pass the time so make the most of your days off by just reading a book or listening to a book if you don't like to read physical books. However it is you choose to read whether it's a physical book or an eBook or an audiobook, start your next adventure by reading a book. It's honestly the best thing to do.

4. Do a jigsaw puzzle
Doing jigsaws can be fun and leave you with a satisfying feeling when the puzzle is complete. Personally when I commit to doing a jigsaw I like to do it while listening to music or watching a film or TV series. Just so I'm not doing to the jigsaw in complete silence. It's also something to do offline. You don't have to use electricity or go online to do it. Unless you have something on in the background while you do the jigsaw, it's completely tech free.

5. Play a video game
As someone who grew up watching my dad and brother playing video games and occasionally joining in. I always loved playing video games. To this day I still own the Playstation 2 we owned when we were younger which I still play on and I also have my Playstation 3 to play on to. I just love going back to games I've played and replay them because they are just so fun. It takes time out of my day and all my focus is on the game at hand so my mind is away from the stresses of work and life. Of course don't spend the entire day playing video games. Give yourself a reasonable time to play the game and remember to take a break from it.

6. Go Outside
This tip is similar to the walking but basically a straightforward one. Go outside. Leave your house and go somewhere. Whether it's for a little road trip or to visit family or go shopping. Get out of the house for a while and just do something. Spending the day cooped up in the house all day is fine but sometimes I feel like I haven't fully appreciated my days off unless I actually leave my house to do something. Otherwise you kind of fall in to this pattern where you stay in and do nothing all day then the next day you have work. Your life then starts to feel repepitive and you feel like you haven't fully appreciated your day off. So, just go out somewhere. It doesn't have to be anything to extravagant but just going somewhere like the cinema or for a meal with your family. Just doing something out of the house will make you feel like you've done something good on your day off. It makes your day off less boring.

Anyway, that's all my ideas on what to do on your days off. I hope they were useful to any of you. Let me know what you do on your days off in the comments below.

I'll be back again soon with another post for you all.

See you soon.
