Why You Should Start A Blog In 2025?

Image
Hello, my name is Megan and I'm twenty eight years old. I've been blogging for ten years now and I honestly love it. It allows me to be creative, write what I want and also manage my own website. Of course, I've made a few mistakes along the way but overall I'm proud of every post I've made. My blog has grown to over 160,000 page views in that time which is a number I never thought it would reach but here we are.  Now onto the question of this post, why should you start a blog in 2025? Let's break it down. Allows you to be creative If you find yourself feeling like you don't have a creative outlet in life or want to be a writer but don't know where or what to write. Starting a blog can be a useful tool to have for many reasons. It allows you to work on your writing skills. Imagine if you were a character on The Sims and you have that bar on top of your head growing with the writing skills, that's what writing on your blog is like. The more you do it ...

Desk Tour

Image
As this week's theme has been all about blogging, I thought I'd share with you my workspace and where I write the majority of my blog posts on a weekly basis. Anyway without further ado let's begin the desk tour. Firstly, I'll give you an overview of my desk which is currently the tidiest it has ever been. Although I did tidy it especially for this post, this is how I like to keep it most of the time. The desk itself is one I bought years ago from Argos. I'm not entirely sure they sell it anymore but it was one of the simpler, cheaper desks and it works for me as I mainly use my desk for blogging and doing my makeup so it's the perfect size for me. It has no drawers or anything and plenty of space underneath it, although I'm not going to show underneath because it's a little chaotic with my makeup products and beauty supplies. Anyway, enjoy an overview of my desk and then I'll go through each part of it. The laptop that I use for everything including...

Blogging Toolkit

Image
Something I thought would be fun to do is share the perfect blogging toolkit for any new bloggers out there who want to start their own blog in 2024. Of course, this can come in handy for other bloggers who aren't new to the field but perhaps want some tips on how they can run their blog. That's why I thought I'd put together this blogging tool kit to help you out when it comes to running a blog.  1. Laptop  One key tool to running a blog is having a laptop. My one is the HP Chromebook 11A and I love it. It's 11.6 inches in size so it's very compact but it's such a lightweight laptop to use when working on my blog. It makes typing so much easier and as it's a chromebook, it uses a lot of google products so things like Blogger and Google Docs runs smoothly on it. You don't really need a fancy laptop or computer setup to run your blog. You just need any old laptop and your ideas to start writing on your blog. 2. Blogging Notebook This is a personal choice ...

My Blogging Routine

Image
As someone who has been blogging for nine years, I've learned a thing or two about what works for me when it comes to sitting down and writing a post. That's why I thought I'd share my blogging routine with you that may inspire you to work on your own blog and get that routine.  Let's get started.  I feel like the one thing that motivates me to do some writing is a mug of coffee by my side. Coffee just makes me feel productive and I swear my body is made up mainly of coffee. It's fair to say I may have a slight coffee addiction. Either way it's something that puts me in the mood to blog.  Next, I will get my laptop and keyboard set up on my desk. I like to prop my laptop up on a stand so the screen is more to my eye level rather than me looking down all the time. I also like my desk to be quite minimal and simple as if it's too cluttered then it will distract me from what I want to do.  I have to have my trusted notebook beside me. This notebook is actually ...

8 Years

Image
On this day eight years ago, seventeen year old me decided to make a blog and publish my first post. Now if you go back to my 2014 posts, you can tell I literally had no idea what I was doing with the numerous spelling and grammar mistakes. The huge gaps between each posts. I don't even know why I decide to start a blog. I think it's because it was at the hype of YouTube and I was too shy to make a YouTube channel (mainly because it my little history, I did have two YouTube channels, but my family found out and it was more a case they didn't want me to make a fool out of myself, so those channels are gone). Yet here I was wanting to do something that maybe some people in the world might be interested in. So here it was, creating my own blog. I think I was inspired by Zoella at the time and thought why not. Maybe I could run my own blog.  It's weird because I didn't think eight years down the line, I'd still be running this blog. To be honest when I was seventeen...

Blah Blah Blah

I'm not listening! So taking a break from social media has really helped me out so much. I've noticed more and more people are spending time on social media now that we have to stay inside. I mean what is the point of endlessly scrolling if it sparks no joy. It's just boredom and pointless. That's why I've deleted all my social media apps (apart from Twitter as it's where I get my news updates) but I don't endlessly scroll Twitter because I don't follow a lot of people anyway so I don't see a lot anyway. I know that this is me ranting about social media but time can be spent on other things. Working on yourself. Taking care of yourself and trying to be happy. Every time I go back on social media on my laptop, just for a little browse, I get frustrated and get off in an instant. Maybe because I'm not a big social butterfly and hardly get any notifications anyway so it's not a loss for me. Besides having this blog is great because I can...

Day In My Life

Image
I thought today I would do a Day In My Life post but I thought I would do something a little bit different. I thought instead of taking photos of every single thing I did that day, I would just use 10 photos. I was inspired to do this by a post I saw on Pinterest. It just gives a little glimpse of my day and as my days are not very exciting so I thought this would be a fun idea. So here is a day in my life through 10 photos. I can't start my day without coffee. I'm sure the amount of times I mention coffee on this blog, you will realise I am a bit of a coffee addict. I have tried going a week without coffee and it was horrible so I gotta have my morning coffee.  On this day I decided to do a bit of work for my future. You may or may not be aware but I've been accepted to do a masters degree in Manchester this September so I thought I'd get some research done on it just so I'm prepared for what's to come. I bought a box of five Cadbury Creme Eggs ...

Morning

Image
I start each morning just like everyone else starts their morning by waking up and having a great view of my ceiling. We're living in a strange time where we have to stay at home and on this particular day, I had no real plans. Although I can't help but appreciate how tidy my bedroom looked this morning after tidying it the night before. Of course no morning is good for me until I get my morning coffee to enjoy by my bedside. Yes I did get up from bed just to make some coffee to then get back into bed. I decided to have a lazy day. Also my mum had just come back from a night shift on this morning so I needed to keep quiet anyway so that I didn't disturb her. So a lazy day is understandable.  I managed to get up to grab my laptop from my desk because no lazy day is complete without a laptop. The first thing I did was catch up on Eastenders because I hadn't watch the latest episode yet so that was one way to kill some time. After catching up on...
