Interview Preparation

Image
As someone that was unemployed for many months, the job hunt can be the most stressful time because while there are jobs around, whether someone hires you is another thing. However, you may find yourself one of the lucky ones who gets called for an interview. Therefore, I thought I might offer some tips on how to get through an interview.  1. Dress Smartly This may be the most obvious tip but sometimes people may forget. Remember this is the first impression of your potential future employer gets of you and if you dress smart then that looks good on you because it shows you care about how you look as well as that's the expectation the employer will have of you that you will dress smartly for work. Either way, dress smart like wearing a shirt or a blouse. Don't wear jeans because that doesn't look good. You can always dress smart casual where the job maybe a little laid back but making the effort to look presentable for the interview can leave a big impression on your future...

Should You Get A Master's Degree?

Image
As someone who finished her master's last year and ended up getting a merit in the end. Was it all worth it? Well, it was different for me because I studied during the pandemic and only went to face to face lectures about ten times but most of the time of it was spent online which honestly sucked. I know the convenience of online lectures, but you feel very isolated from everyone and don't even really know the other students in your lecture. You're sometimes forced into a breakout room which is even more awkward because you don't even know who you're working with. Sometimes, you felt yourself switching off during the lecture because it would just be a PowerPoint presentation with no interaction the things sometimes went wrong like the screen would freeze or you can't even see the presentation. The one good thing to come out of it all was I learned how to work in a group remotely and even became the project manager of the group plus do a group presentation entire...

Things To Do Before University Begins

Image
1. Pack Obviously you need to pack before you go to university. I'm not sure I know many people who move away to university for the first time and not bring anything with them. It's physically impossible and you don't have a lot of time to buy everything when you're there. Of course if you've forgotten anything then you can buy it when you get there but that's it. I'd recommend starting packing one month before you go. Don't pack everything but just start packing little things and work out things that you don't have yet that you need to get. It will save you a lot of time on the day before you move to university if you have everything packed and ready and you can just do one final check of it all. 2. Make a LinkedIn Page  You may not think this is important before you go to university but trust me it will come in handy. Especially when it comes to network and search for employment, at least you have a LinkedIn profile they can look at. It...

Day Whatever

So who even knows what day it is anymore? All days just feel the same. Most of my time is spent in the four corners of my bedroom. Being an introvert, I live for the inside. Except I always liked having the freedom to just go outside. While I love having personal space and everyone is keeping their distance (which is not such a bad thing), at the same time I long for the day where I can just walk around a shop and not have to worry about where I stand. I do miss freely shopping. I kind of hoped this wouldn't last but yet here we are with no idea when this is going to end. I'm not going to lie but I'm kind of sick of being in my bedroom all the time. While I kept myself busy with doing research, writing and binge watching Netflix. I kind of miss going out and being normal. Everyone is starting to say that this is the new normal and I know it's keeping everyone safe. I understand and I will listen to rules of the lockdown but at the same time, this is not great for my...

Planning

I think now more than ever we should be planning for our future. Afterall, we never really know what is going to happen in the future or how long this thing is going to last. For ages I was confused about what I wanted to do in the future. I never really had a clear objective and to be honest I am still not quite sure what to do with my life. I had plans to move to Manchester in a one bedroom flat and just figure it out from there. Although I realised that is not how it works. I felt a little unhappy because I thought I was letting my family and myself down. Afterall, I went to university and got the degree but I don't know what to do with it. I guess I felt lost. I guess growing up and following your dreams is easier said than done. Now though I have a new plan and I feel like it's going to work. At least I'm hoping it will work and get me one step closer to where I want to be. In September, I am going to be moving to Manchester but to do a master's degree which I ...

Trip to Chester

Hey guys! So today I took a little trip to Chester. I took the train there which was nice. I like travelling by the train because it's kind of relaxing and it kind of takes your mind off things and you don't have to worry about doing anything. Except of course when you have to switch trains or walk from one station to the other. I had to do that today. It was alright but very tiring. I've been doing a lot of walking around Chester and walking to the stations. Then I had to do a 15 minute walk to my uni home afterwards. The reason why I went to Chester is I had to do some research for one of my assignments and take pictures of an attraction in Chester. It was kind of fun. Anyway, after that I went for a walk round the shops. I went into Primark and bought some stuff but I'll show you that in my next post. Later on.  I also had a burger king which I haven't had in ages. That was good too. So yeah. That was my day. I'll be back so...
