Top Five Romance Movies

As Valentine's Day is just around the corner I thought I'd share my top romance films with you to get you in the mood for the day of love. These are just some of my personal favourites that I love to watch if I'm in the mood for romance or just as a reminder of how single I am. Either way they are some good romance films.

Let's get started.

1. The Holiday
I'm aware this is seen as a Christmas film but at the same time it's not full on Christmas like some other Christmas films. This film has everything you want in a good romance film. A good cast and a wonderful story with lots of different themes. It has themes of finding yourself, unrequited love, unexpected love, something casual that turns into something serious. It's just so heartwarming and a really enjoyable film that can be watched all year round. The Holiday is definitely one of my top romance films and I love it.

2. The Proposal
This is another great film to watch. Yes, it's your standard haters to lovers but Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds are a perfect combination of funny and emotional. It is full of laughs but also has a heart at the end of it all. It's an unexpected concept where your boss offers you to do a fake proposal and marriage that is bound to be a rollercoaster of emotion but ultimately this is a feel good film that has laughs and romance in it. The perfect romantic comedy to watch to get you in the mood for Valentine's Day.

3. Love Rosie
Oh this movie is another great romance movie. It's where you know two people are destined to be together but there's so many different bumps in the road and they find themselves hitting so many obstacles that stop them from being together. It's charming, it's relatable as we've all experienced a similar situation in our lifetime. I know I have it except for me. I didn't end up with a man in the end. Either way it's a fun film to watch as there are many humorous scenes but it also pulls at the heart strings with some emotional scenes. Either way it's a good romance film for when you want to have a laugh and a cry.

4. Little Women
Now, I'm not going to mention a version of Little Women as there are many different versions of this story by Louisa May Alcott. It's about the lives of four sisters that are slowly coming to terms with womanhood and the trials that follow. From growing out of doing plays together, having love interests, getting married and having babies. It's a sweet film but isn't just about romance. Yes it's there but it shows us that sometimes it will come when we least expect it and sometimes having your siblings there supporting you will really help you out in the long run. It's a feel good film that of course has those emotional scenes too. My two favourite versions are the 1994 film and the 2019 film. They are two great film versions. An honourable mention is the 2017 BBC mini series which I enjoyed also. It's a film that has lots of memorable moments but at the end of it all gives you this wonderful feeling. It's not a complete romance film but it does have themes of romance scattered through it.

5. Titanic
I'm not going to lie. One movie I used to watch a lot growing up was Titanic and it wasn't to see the sinking of the ship. It was a love story. I was truly captivated by this movie and one of my childhood dreams was to meet the love of my life on holiday and I always hoped that maybe one day it will happen. Maybe it still will. Who knows? Either way I know this is a sad tale but you can't help but fall in love with the characters of Rose and Jack. Two lovers, not supposed to be together due to their place in society but somehow find a way. It's honestly a wonderful love story and I felt I couldn't not mention it.

Anyway, those are my top five romance movies. Let me know what your favourite romance film is in the comments below. I would love to hear it.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.

See you then.
