I have been meaning to get back into scrapbooking for ages but sometimes time just slips away and sometimes you suddenly stop doing the hobbies you love to do. Underneath my desk at the moment is all my art supplies and scrapbook materials that have been untouched for a while. I decided to get back into creating a little spread.
I bought these blue washi tape ages ago as I wanted to create a blue theme spread for a while. I forgot exactly where I got them from, I think it might have been The Works but I can't remember sadly but I'm sure you can find them somewhere similar.
I also had a fun idea of sharing the process with you because it's something I enjoy and I thought it would be fun. Please note I'm in no way an expert or a professional. Remember art is not always perfect, sometimes it can be very abstract and interpreted in many different ways. All I'm asking for is to be nice.
Let's get started.
I first get my journal and I'm going to colour it blue. I do this with a blue watercolour paint. I always like to add colour to the background of my spreads as I hate seeing the white paper as it's a little boring. I will then leave the page to dry for a bit as nothing will stick properly otherwise.
While the paper is drying, I will go through my supplies and pick out scraps of paper, stickers, gems and anything I can use. Sometimes I will have an idea on what I do, sometimes I need to pick a few things out first before the idea comes.
Once I've picked out a few pieces, I start to plan how to put it together by mixing and matching, seeing what works and what doesn't. Sometimes I will just make it up as I go along.
One of the things I use for my journaling is double sided tape. I prefer it over glue as I find it more structured and less sticky as you stick one side down then peel off the over side before sticking it down.
Next, I add a little background paper which is smaller than the page to create a little border around it because who doesn't love a border.
Next I start sticking pieces down and slowly it all comes together to create a nice spread.
Finally, the final touch is adding a few gems and pearls just to add a little extra to it and voila, my feeling blue scrapbook spread is complete.
I'm really happy with the way it turned out. The beauty of scrapbooking, journaling and art is that you can do whatever you want. As long as you're happy with your art then that's all that matters.
There we have it, that is my feeling blue scrapbook spread. I hope you enjoyed this post. I know it's a little different from my usual posts but I wanted to share something that I've been enjoying a lot recently.
Let me know if you enjoy scrapbooking, junk journaling or art in general. I'd love to see what you've created in the comments below.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.
See you then.
