Cardiff Photo Journal

This bank holiday weekend I took a trip to Cardiff with my mum. It was quite nice because I had a day off on Friday so we left on Friday and returned yesterday. I thought I'd share a photo journal of my trip to Cardiff.

Let's get started!
The train journey was pretty straightforward as we only had to change once and we got very lucky to get seats on both trains we were on. I used the opportunity to listen to music on my MP3 player so I could save my phone battery. I also had a chance to read my current book which is The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.
When we got to Cardiff, we had some lunch in the Slug & Lettuce where I had some nachos. They were very tasty but I would have preferred to have salsa on it. We then made our way to our hotel which was the Holiday Inn in Cardiff Bay.
We then went out to explore Cardiff Bay and we decided to go on the Ferris Wheel which was really good until it stopped right at the top and reminded me of my fear of heights. Even so, it was a beautiful view of Cardiff Bay and really enjoyable to do.
Then it was time for dinner which I booked in advance and it was Miller & Carter. I had a sirloin steak with beef dripping sauce and it was delicious.
Next day was a shopping day and I did a lot of damage at Primark. Honestly though, I haven't been to Primark in so long so it was a nice treat to go there. I probably could have spent more if we stayed longer but I managed to get quite a few bits like new pyjamas, socks, a new top, bath bombs, and a few beauty accessories. It was pretty much the only place I bought from.
After shopping, we decided to go on a boat trip back to Cardiff Bay which was really handy as you don't realise how far the city centre and the bay are from one another. Plus you get a little history tour and I learned quite a bit from it. You can do the single fare or do a round trip so we opted for the single fare as we'd finished in the city centre. Either way I'd highly recommend it for something to do in Cardiff.
After the boat trip, I discovered that the bay area was called the Roald Dahl Pass which I never knew and I also didn't realise he was born in Cardiff. That was a nice fact to hear as Roald Dahl was one of the first authors that really got me into reading as I love his books. We had a little walk around the Pass before dropping our shopping back off at the hotel.
It was time for the cinema, so we decided to watch The Fall Guy as it had Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in it and thought it would be a fun movie to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed it as it had a few twists and turns. The action scenes were incredible and at the end of it you really do appreciate the stunt guys of the film even more. This is definitely a film in honour of them. This movie definitely had a mixture of action, comedy and romance in it and I'd highly recommend it as it is a fun film to watch for anyone.
After the cinema, we decided to go for dinner at Demiro's in Cardiff Bay. We were very lucky as they had some availability for walk-ins. I thoroughly enjoyed it as the food was lovely. I had French Onion soup to start and beef lasagne for the main. I did have a New York cheesecake for dessert but I forgot to take a photo of it. It was a lovely atmosphere inside and halfway through the main, loud music started playing which confused us but then a singer came out and started singing. It was one of the waiters and he sang three songs, two in Italian and one Shirley Bassey number. It was highly enjoyable and he had a stunning voice as he did full on opera. One of the waiters told us he sings every Friday and Saturday so if you fancy dinner and a show I would highly recommend. It was a great atmosphere and the food was excellent.
Finally, it was Sunday and we decided to head home as it was a five hour train journey home so we thought the sooner we leave, the sooner we're home.
There we have it. That was my Cardiff Photo Journal. Let me know what you got up to this bank holiday weekend. I would love to hear it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back soon with another post for you.

See you then.
