June Favourites
This month, I definitely watched a lot of shows because this list will consist of three shows I watched. I couldn't think of anything else as a favourite for this month so sorry about that but these three shows I thoroughly enjoyed this month.
Let's get started.
Not Going Out
I recently watched old episodes of Not Going Out. It’s a series where you could watch any series and pick up what’s going on. I watched the new series recently and I was a big fan, it did have some moments that were funny but as it was mainly Lee and Lucy with the absence of Lucy’s parents, Anna and Toby. It didn’t have the same familiarity. It did have some funny moments like the Oasis and Hotel Room episodes I enjoyed. Yet it did feel like it was missing the other elements of the show. I’m aware there will be a series 15 and I kind of hope they bring back familiar faces like Lucy’s parents or any of their friends or even the children grown up. Either way this is a series I will continue to watch and rewatch. I rewatched from series 8 and onwards. I might go back to the very beginning. It’s just a familiarity of everyday life that brings comfort and joy to me. Something that I’ve been watching a lot of this month.
Wolfblood
This might be a very random choice but I decided to rewatch the first series on iPlayer. I remember when it first came out on CBBC although I was a bit late and ended up watching the finale of series 1 first as it was broadcasted on tv. Slightly confusing as I had no idea what was going on but it made me watch the first series. I watched the second and third series when it was broadcasted. I haven’t watched it in a while so this month I decided to rewatch it. I haven’t actually watched the fourth and fifth series but maybe as I’m going through the series I’ll finally get around to watching it again. Does anyone else watch shows they used to watch as a child or teenager? I’ve been meaning to rewatch Tracy Beaker for a while but never got around to it. Wolfblood is definitely an interesting series to watch which is why it’s a favourite this month as I’ve spent the last part of this month watching the first and second series which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed.
Squid Game
Finally, I have to discuss the show I've been most excited about. I actually forgot Season 3 was coming out in June until I saw an advert but luckily only had a few days to wait for it. I actually was travelling to Manchester on the day it was released but it didn't stop me from binge watching it. I downloaded all the episodes on my tablet and spent my train journey watching the majority. I got up to Episode 5 by the time I arrived in Manchester so later on I watched the final two episodes in my hotel room in the evening. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. This show definitely hits you with all the emotions at once. You never really know what to expect. Obviously if season 1 has anything to go by, you can expect quite a few character deaths but this season was more heartbreaking than all the seasons combined. I actually really enjoyed this season and I felt the ending was perfect. It still left me with a few questions but also that's the beauty of it. It was the final season so it definitely closed that book. Although it did have an interesting twist at the end for a spin off series. I was glad I binged watched it on Friday because my social media has been full of spoilers. I decided to rewatch the first series as I've only ever seen it once and finished watching the second series yesterday. Even though I literally just watched season 3 on Friday, I'm going to rewatch it again as I'm sure there are many hidden details that I might have missed. I will say watching Season 2 again after watching Season 3 you do notice some little details and hints about Season 3. Especially Player 388 during the final episode of season 2. You'll know what I mean if you watch Season 3. It's little details like that which really make this show. Honestly, I think this has become one of my favourite series and even though it's only 3 seasons, it's a really good series. When it first came out, I watched the English dubbed version but during the second season I switched to the original language and it is so much better. You can really hear and feel the emotion of the characters. That's why when I rewatched the first season, I watched it in the original Korean and was glad about it. Shows like this deserve to be watched in their native language because it's so much more powerful. I watch with subtitles anyway even with English language shows so it was no bother for me. Anyway, it's safe to say I really loved Squid Game this month. If they are doing a spin off, I'd be really interested in it and wonder if they'd tie in with the original cast. That would be pretty cool. Go watch Squid Game if you haven't because it's epic.
There we have it. Those are my favourites of the month. Sorry it was only one category but I'm only human and sometimes shows keep you occupied. Let me know what you've been loving this month, I'd love to hear it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.
See you then.
