My Writing Journey 2
Thought I'd share another update of my writing journey as progress has been made. I've done two thousand words worth of research which includes my novel's logline and road map. This has really helped me as I've outlined different points of my novel which I wasn't sure about before but now it feels like it's coming together. I know that this road map is not set in stone as ideas can change but it's a starting point. Definitely worth creating a road map for your novel as it helps you to map out where you're going with the story. Definitely splitting into Act one, two and three also really help with it.
It definitely helped when I decided to do some writing in a coffee shop one day. I find writing in different locations can really spark motivation. I took my road map with me and was in the middle of writing a chapter when I went there> i got myself a caramel latte and set myself time to work. I like writing the old fashion way with a pen and my notebook because I hate taking my laptop out with me. I also find the creative juices flow more when I handwrite. I made a lot of good progress and was happy with what I was writing. The chapter seemed to flow. Even though I only wrote 600 words, progress is still progress.
Current Progress
As it stands my novel is currently at 9583 words. I've done four chapters and I'm working on the fifth chapter. At the moment I know some of the chapters are shorter than the others but at the moment, this is my first draft. I know there will be many drafts and I'd rather get the words down then I can redefine the chapters in the next draft. At the end of the day the first draft is never going to be perfect so you don't have to take care to perfect it because you know there is always going to be time to edit it all. At the moment, I'm just enjoying writing and planning out the story. Having the road map really does help me because it outlines where my novel is going but doesn't have all the intricate details as of yet. That's for the writing process.
Anyway, I'm loving what I'm writing so far and that's all that really matters at the end of the day that you enjoy what you write. Otherwise what is the point of it?
That's all I have to say for now for this writing update. Let me know if you have been inspired to write a novel or if you're currently working on a novel. How's it going? I'd love to hear all about it in the comments below.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.
See you then.
