My Writing Journey 3
This month, I'm going to be honest I haven't done an awful lot of writing on my novel. I've had other things going on and my novel writing took a little back seat. I'm hoping to really get back into next month and take it more seriously. I might even set myself a deadline to complete the first draft. Although, I don't know if I want to put too much pressure on myself but maybe setting a realistic deadline will be useful. Anyway, onto the actual progress of my novel.
Current Progress
As it stands I've written 11,021 words so I have made some progress in my last update. I ended up writing the epilogue for my novel as it was one I was looking forward to writing. The best bit about writing is people think you have to write from start to finish but the reality is you can work on any chapter you want. You can even work backwards if you have a really strong idea for the climax of your novel. It's especially good to remember you can write any chapter you want, especially on days you're not sure what to write about. I shared my three act road map in the last writing post which was a big help and can really help guide you on what to write. That especially helped me with my epilogue as it is the final chapter of my novel. I wish I wrote a bit more this month but next month I'm definitely going to write even more.
Two books that I bought to help me with my writing are Save The Cat! Writes A Novel by Jessica Brody which was highly recommended to help with writing a novel. I've only just started reading it but I will make use of it next month and let you know in my next update if it was any good. I also bought The Emotion Thesaurus by Angela Akerman and Becca Puglisi. I got this because I struggle with coming up with dialogue as sometimes I feel like it can all sound the same. I got this so it can help me try alternative ways to express how my characters are feeling and it also has suggestions for body language which I thought was a big help. Haven't had a chance to fully use it but definitely for next month when I go on my writing binge, I will let you know if it was worth it.
Anyway, that's my little update on my writing journey. I know it was a short update with not much progress this month but writing this has motivated me to get myself into gear and get back to writing my novel. Hopefully next month you will see much more progress.
That's all I have to say for now. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Let me know if you're currently writing a novel and how your progress is going, I'd love to hear it. I'll be back again soon with another post.
See you then.
