Caravan Holiday Packing
On Monday I'm going on a caravan holiday at Haven Holiday Park in South Wales. I'm so excited because I haven't been on a caravan holiday for several years now.
It's exciting and different to a regular holiday but I just find it so cool. It's a home away from home where you're self catering but you have all the amenities at your fingertips plus a fully fledged kitchen and bathroom, living room and bedrooms. It's great. I thought I would share some packing tips and what I plan to take as I'm going away for five days. I'm hoping this post is useful to any of you going on a caravan holiday or if you're just going on holiday and are struggling with the packing, this might be helpful to you.
Let's get started.
1. Plan outfits
The one thing I've always struggled with when it comes to packing is clothes because I used to be the person that would pack things just in case. Another thing I'd do is throw random tops or trousers in my suitcase and not actually consider whether they match. That's when I watched a packing video on YouTube and unfortunately I can't remember the name of the creator because I've seen so many packing videos but they planned their outfits for each day. This got me thinking that is actually a good way to pack if you plan outfits for each day then it makes packing slightly easier. Plus able to mix tops with the same bottoms or bottoms with the same top also helps because you're packing less. Also you're not just wearing things only once and reusing it. I split things into categories because I know there's going to be day outfits but there's also going to be evening outfits for if we go out to dinner or go to watch the entertainment. I got to work planning outfits for each day I'm away, some I may have to reconsider depending on the weather but at least I have options. It's definitely helped a lot with packing when planning outfits because you can guarantee you'll wear everything you pack.
2. Toiletries
Something I've found useful is always having a pre packed toiletries bag because you never know when you're going to suddenly need to go away somewhere. I learned this in university and it really helped me especially on days where I would take trips back home. I always make sure I have enough supplies for when I travel. I use those reusable bottles for things like shampoos and conditioners because they're so easy to top up. I made sure I got a travel toothbrush and toothpaste supplied as well as a deodorant. It just makes packing easier because I can grab the toiletry bag which is almost complete. Sometimes I may need to refill the supplies but most of the time I have everything I need for a trip. Even if you don't go away often, having a toiletry bag ready to go just in case you need to travel is always handy in the long run. Another tip is if you're travelling with someone or sharing a room together why not share the toiletries out. Someone could bring the shampoo and conditioner, another could bring toothpaste and deodorant. Sometimes that can save room in the packing if you share toiletries.
3. Make a list
I love making lists especially when it comes to packing because I like to make sure I have everything I need plus I can refer back to my list to keep track of everything. It's especially handy if you're going to a caravan because another set of things you need to consider is food, drink and other household supplies. For example you may want to consider bringing some cleaning supplies like dish cloths and washing up liquid or even soap. Also you may need to consider options for things like breakfast or lunch. Of course you can choose to eat out but sometimes that can be expensive. I went and bought those Kellogg multipack cereals because it gives me options for breakfast every morning. Lunch you can get bread rolls or salad supplies. You can even get things that you'd normally make, like for me I love making noodles so I've bought noodle packets to take with me. Having a list of things you need can really help you keep you organised when it comes to packing and keep you on track with everything you need.
4. Don't forget your chargers
These days everything needs a charger such as phones, tablets, headphones, watches etc. It all needs a form of a charger. Of course you can charge all your devices up before you go on holiday but most likely you will use them and eventually the charge will go down throughout the week. I like to keep my chargers organised in a pouch and another thing is some of my devices can use the same charging cable. I found my ear pods and portable charger use the exact same charging cable so it means one less cable to take away with me. In my list if something needs a charger I will always write '+ charger'. That way I will remember to take my chargers. I'm sure you will remember your chargers but just in case, here's a reminder.
5. Packing cubes and pouches
I consider myself to be a pouch queen because I have so many pouches for different things in my everyday bag like my earpods and a little pouch for essentials like tissues and lip balm. It looks silly but I know where everything is. I always use packing cubes whenever I go on holiday because it keeps me organised and I know where everything is. You can split it into different categories like tops, bottoms, undergarments. I also pack an empty pouch for dirty laundry just so it doesn't mix with my other clothes. I'm never going to stop using packing cubes and pouches for my packing because honestly it makes life so much easier especially when you're unpacking or when you're repacking. You can buy packing cubes from anywhere, I've bought mine previously from Amazon and it's lasted me a long time. I even inspired my mum to use packing cubes.
Anyway, that's all my tips for packing for holiday. I'm very excited about my caravan holiday on Monday and I'm definitely going to make a post all about it when I get back to share what I got up to. Let me know if you have any holidays coming up, I'd love to hear all about them.
Thank you for taking the time to view my blog and I'll be back again soon with another post.
See you then.
