Where Are You Christmas?
It's finally December which means it's going to be non-stop Christmas on radio, TV and online. Even out on the streets, you'll see Christmas lights everywhere. You may find your neighbours have gone to town with those lights and you haven't even put any decorations up yet. If so then you are just like me. In our household, we haven't even considered putting the decorations up yet. Probably will do when we have a free moment but it is a lot of effort to get the tree and the decorations. Realising you still have wrapping paper and Christmas cards from last year you could have reused instead of buying new wrapping paper. Although once it's done, it is all nice and cosy in your house but it still is effort. You need a good solid few hours in your day to do it all.
It brings me onto how I've been feeling about Christmas. Of course, I'm excited and nearly finished my Christmas shopping. I have one more person to buy for actually then I'm done. Actually two people because my work's doing a secret santa and I haven't bought anything for that person yet. Plus I need to write my Christmas cards also. Still a bit to do, but at the moment that Christmas feeling and excitement hasn't arrived for me yet. I feel like I need to play non-stop Christmas songs and watch a bunch of Christmas movies to get me in the mood. Maybe I'll do that this weekend to kind of wake up my Christmas spirit.
I do feel like in your twenties, Christmas does feel kind of the same when you're currently still in that stage in your life where you're not living with a partner and have children. Obviously, Christmas is a very different experience for children as it's still a magical, exciting time and you still believe. Yet when you're older, it's kind of stripped away from you and you see behind the magic. Yet you can try to make it a magical time but sometimes the most exciting part of Christmas is the Christmas dinner and spending time with loved ones. Christmas is actually different this year as I have an extra person to get for now because I'm currently in a relationship which is definitely new. I've never actually had a partner at Christmas so that is definitely something new for me. Sadly we're not spending Christmas day together and I actually don't know what our Christmas plans are yet but I'm looking forward to whatever happens this month.
So yeah, that's my thoughts and feelings at the moment. Even as I'm writing this post I'm listening to Christmas songs in the hopes it will awaken that feeling and it's made me want to sing along to Christmas songs so that should be a start.
Anyway, let me know how you're feeling about Christmas right now? Are you in the mood for it or are you like me who doesn't have that feeling yet? Unless of course you hate Christmas and don't want that feeling then of course you do whatever makes you happy. Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below. I would love to hear them.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I'll be back tomorrow with another post.
See you then.
