Change

Change is a big thing and it will happen to all of us.

This year we had to make some big changes to our normality. For a long period of time we couldn't leave the house unless it was essential. We had to start keeping two metres apart and queuing to get into a shop. We couldn't even go out to a restaurant to have a meal or watch a movie in the cinema. Schools had to close, some people weren't allowed to work, essential workers were put under more stress than ever before because of this pandemic. I think we all hoped things would be back to normal by now and while things are slowly going back to normal, there's still fears that we're not over this yet.

Of course change can affect us differently as we get older our bodies and way of thinking changes. How we feel about things soon change but is there a right or wrong way to deal with change.

I think one of the biggest things you should do when it comes to change is to learn to accept it. The world isn't picture perfect and there is no real way to be normal in this world. Change comes when you least expect it so the sooner you accept it and adapt to it then the better it will be for you. I think we all hoped 2020 would be the best year ever as it's the start of the new decade and all that. However it has been a real challenge for all of us. On January 5th was a sad day for me as my Granddad had passed away. It was an upsetting time for me and my family. We're still grieving about it to this day. Luckily we were able to have a funeral ten days later before this pandemic started which I'll be forever grateful for. Me and mum were going to go on a caravan holiday in Scotland at the end of May as neither of us had ever been in Scotland which sadly had to be cancelled. Of course I'm not writing all this out of pity, I'm just saying change does happen when you least expect.

At the start of this year, I thought I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I was planning on moving up north into my own flat and finding a job related to my career while I was up there. The first and only flat I viewed was not for me so I thought I'd give it a bit of time but it seemed impossible to move unless you had a secure job. It didn't matter how much you had saved from your previous job. So that pretty much messed up with my plans. There was a silver lining and I decided to look into postgraduate study way back in February. I'm really happy that I did because this September I'll finally be moving to do my master's degree and I'm looking forward to the opportunities that will provide.

Like I said before change can surprise you and sometimes it's how you deal with change makes you into a stronger person. The quicker you accept change, the better it will be for you.

Anyway, that's all I have to really say about change. I hope it was insightful for you and maybe you learned something new. I would love to hear your thoughts on how you cope with change and maybe we can help each other out.

Thank you for reading my blog and I'll be back soon with another post.

See you then.
