A Good Night's Sleep

Sometimes sleeping can be a real struggle. It may seem simple and most of us do it every single night. However, sometimes it can be hard to get a good night's sleep. I'm lucky if I can get at least six hours sleep let alone seven or eight.

I thought I'd make this post as a guide for you and myself to look back on about getting a good night's sleep.

1. Change your bed sheets
Don't do this close to your bedtime as you may get a little stressed but do it during the day. I don't know about you but going to bed with fresh sheets can make all the difference. It just feels more cosier. I don't know why but it makes you feel good about yourself.

2. Have a bath or shower before bed
Whether you're a shower person or a bath person. Give yourself a good wash before bed. Honestly when you've had a shower and changed your bed sheets too, you just feel so clean and refreshed when you get into bed. It just makes you feel a little bit more cosier.

3. Disconnect from social media
Social media can be a big distraction but can also cause you to other think. Especially when you're tucked up in bed and your friends on Instagram or Snapchat are on a night out without you. It can lead to some serious overthinking and may leave you unable to sleep because of it. Try to spend an hour or more without social media. Try distracting yourself with a movie or TV show. You can even spend some time reading a book. If you're struggling to read a new book. Why not reread your favourite book. Harry Potter never lets you down in this kind of situation. It just allows your mind to focus on the story line instead of wandering what your friends are doing right now.

4. Write in a journal
I've found journaling helps me out so much. Especially when I have a lot on my mind. I find writing down all my thoughts in a notebook just helps. It feels like I'm letting go of these thoughts and transferring them onto the page. I feel like I've let them all out and now I don't have to think about them anymore. It honestly does help.

5. Try to go to sleep at a reasonable hour
Now we've all probably had moments where we've gone to sleep a little bit late but try to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. I like to coincide with when I have to get up in the morning so I try and have seven hours of sleep. I just find it's enough for me and I feel so much better in the morning when I do get seven hours of sleep. Of course the amount of sleep and the time you go to bed is entirely up to you but do try and get enough sleep because sleep is important at the end of the day. Literally.

Anyway, that's all my tips for having a good night's sleep. I hope this was helpful to any of you struggling to get to sleep.

I'll be back again tomorrow with another Blogmas post. See you then.

  1. Good information thanks for posting it, during this time I have taken HEMPSI SLEEPWELL TINCTURE, made in the USA and it has helped me a lot to induce and maintain a deeper sleep and wake up refreshed and ready to start the day.
